There's a theory amongst reviewers and fans of the Urban Legends series that the character of Grace Taylor in Urban Legends: Bloody Mary was originally intended to be Reese Wilson (played by Loretta Devine in the first two Urban Legends movies). If true, this would certainly explain why Grace is shown to be fascinated by urban legends and has scrap books full of news clippings about the events of both previous films. In addition, there was a running joke in the earlier movies about Reese being a huge Pam Grier fan, and there's a Grier reference directed towards Grace in Bloody Mary.

Also, before Bloody Mary was released, there was an on-line rumour that Rebecca Gayheart (who starred in the first Urban Legend movie and had a closing-scene cameo in the second) would be making a brief appearance as a 'news reporter'. In the event, Gayheart isn't in Bloody Mary, but it seems likely a cameo was planned. The scene with the news reporter (played by Brandy Vega) at the end of the movie doesn't really serve any purpose and seems out of place, and it's easy to imagine that it originally existed solely to give Gayheart another cameo, but she was unavailable and instead of cutting the scene the role of the reporter was re-cast.
