Japanese Films about the Sino-Japanese 'Incidents'

Have Japanese filmmakers or animators ever touched upon this part of their history?

Since German films have depicted the holocaust (The Tin Drum) I think it would be interesting to see things like the rape of Nanking from the perspective of the Japanese.

bit hard, since it didn't happen o0

Yeah, i'd be interested to know what the majority of the Japanese people would be thinking about those unfortunate events. I'm curious in the general mentality and psyche of the Japanese people about the past incidents in WWII.

All I know is that their general attitude towards WWII is certainly different than the Germans' about their own...

one of the differences is that Germany shares borders with 9 different country's while Japan is an island surrounded by water. Germany, and Germans face the people they where at war with on a daily basis, while Japan and the Japaneses remains relatively isolated from the country's they once occupied....One thing to remember is that this isolation works as a two way street...Just as Japaneses are "somewhat" isolated from contact and never really face the people they once occupied, very few people from China have had the chance to "get to know" many Japanese people on a personal level....their is more then one reason that wounds don't heal. Contact and familiarity breeds understanding and growth....

I don't know any, but it should be done. If the holocaust is in the German history books then the Japanese one should have Unit 731. AFAIK Shrio Ishii was treated like a hero in Japan.
Maybe it would've been different if the war criminals got prosecuted.
