Any movies about the Japanese home front?

I'm interested in seeing movies from the Japanese point of view during the Second World War period especially those similar to this movie. Anybody know of any? Well most people would know Letters from Iwo Jima. I can think of another one, I only saw parts of the movie towards the end, the movie was called Kanzo sensei (Dr.Akagi) (1998). It's about this doctor who's trying to find a cure for hepatitis in a small town. There's another one that I can think of, that's The Battle of Okinawa (1971), but I haven't seen that yet so I can't really comment on that. So anybody else know anymore interesting movies? Please let me know. Thank you :-)

Battle Of Okinawa is good. Japans Longest Day is another. Father Of The Kamikaze is also good. However, the best WWII film from the point of the Japanese is Fires On The Plains. Brutal film.

For a good film on the Japanese civilian home front, I would recommend "Kabei", directed by Yamada Yoji.
It is about the college professor husband of a lady being arrested for his opposition to the war in China and she must raise their daughters alone.
Quite good!
The images of homefront Japan and dealing with the Tokko are great! There is one scene where they are putting their uncle on a train and thee is a Kempetai officer on the platform observing-well worth seeing-
Another good film was "Ashita E No Yuigon" (Best Wishes For Tomorrow) about the war crimes trial of Tokai Army General Okada- also well done!
Postwar, and not really homefront, but a good film none the less is "Hotaru" (Firefly) about a former Tokkotai pilot coming to grips with his war service after the death of the Showa empeeror is announced.
Probably the greatest Japanese homefront film is an anime production called "Hotaru No Haka", or Graveyard Of The Fireflies.
About two orphaned Japanese children growing up in Japan during the bombing.
Beautifully illustratedm and written but probably not suitable for younger children.
I is highly moving, I have watched my copy once-
