Aww,they look cute together.

ur outta ur mind buddy...the guys pushing 40 plus and is dating a girl old enough to be his daughter and at the same time is not over his beautiful ex aishwarya so he casts a look alike of hers in a film who is not much younger than katrina all with the aim of proving a point to ash. And not to mention his extra cirricular activites like killing black bucks, running over people in his car, threatening calls and bragging about his links to the underworld AND BASHING UP HIS GIRLFRIENDS........The guys a whacko!!!

You really dislike Salman Khan, don't you? :p

I'm not a die-hard Salman Fan either, but your post reads demeaning. To be sure:

- he's not pushing 40+, he is turning 40 this December.
- What is really wrong with dating a girl 15 years younger than yourself, as long as both happy (and are of legal age)? Dop you object to Catherine-zeta Jones & Micheal Douglas' marriage too??
- He has been proven innocent in both the charges you levy against him. Unless you mean to say the Justice system is all corrupted, and he bribed everyone, and ...

Aah well - each to his own. I think the media loves to hate Salman Khan, and that's where all the negativity surrounding him exudes from.

dont dislike the the dude...was just stating the facts...and as u like bullet point facts here are some:-

1. cheats on first fiancee sangeeta with somy ali and his excuse is that sangeeta was 'not understanding' somy!
2. pours a thums up bottle over somy's head in a crowded mall while dating her during a misunderstanding.
3. throws 9 years of togetherness out of the window with somy when he falls for ash whom he then makes target for his beatings.
4. fights with shahrukh on the sets of chalte chalte, getting ash out of the movie.
5. threatens to kill vivek oberoi if he doesnt 'lay off' ash.
6. threatens ash that he will wipe out her family if she wont perfrom for a mafia man.

with all these 'great' qualities (not mentioning black buck and road rage as he was surprisingly found innocent) is there anything not to like???

with all this there is still alot to like:

1. he picks up injured people from the road and takes them to the hospital and
saves there life.
2. always runs for the rescue of his friends when they are facing hard time,
examples are him doing phir milenge, let me remind you that no actor in
bollywood had the guts to do that role, salman not only took the role but
donated all his fees for it. then recently sawan kumar tak, approached him
for a gues appearance in his film, as he needed a big star, salman went for
a full fledge role and didnt take a single penny for it.
3. he supports an home for the elderdly ladies in bandra, and apart from
monetary support he goes there and spends time with them.
4. helped inder kumar when the latters father died, even gave him financial
help.
5. occasionally visits cancer patients and gives donations aswell.
6. he has launched many unknown people, and believes in giving new directors a
chance. examples are sanjay leela bhansali (khamoshi), radhika rao and vinay
sapru (lucky-no time for love), atul agnihotri (dil ne jise apna kaha).
7. when yesteryears actress vijanti mala needed money, she didnt look up on her
friends from that era, but asked salman for help, which he readily did.
8. has helped so many unkown people achieve stardom without any gain of his,
examples are himesh reshamiya, sajid-wajid and the famous designer vikram
phadnis.

these are just the things that i can remember from the top of my head, so let me tell you that he is nothing but LIKEABLE.

the topic - salman khan : misunderstood or truly terrible. choose one and give a reason.
and a thought all women should seriously consider: would u think salman khan was so great if he treated u the way he treated ash, somy,sangeeta etc. Think about it.

As u said :

If u really have such dreams then you are seriously disturbed and need therapy a.s.a.p.

just for your information : Salman Khan and his brother were recently arrested for bashing up Anupam Kher's son in a drunken stupour at a club recently. the guy needed blood transfusions and just got out of the ICU. He is still badly injured and has to walk around a plaster for a few more days. An FIR has already been lodged. If you see a picture of the injuries inflicted on the guy perhaps u would think differently.

A word of advice :-
If I thought you needed therapy earlier, you now need to be kept in isolation forever!
According to you, if a person prefers well mannered, classy men to those who bash up others then that person must have been hit alot as a kid??!!! Talk about bogus logic!
And if fighting is a way of life then why are people all around the planet endorsing world peace? Why not let world wars go on forever?
Actors are also percieved as role models and if they behave like *beep* then why have the public place you on a pedastel?
Salman Khan and acting do not go together. If you mean Salman and his moronic boorish behaviour on screen, then you have no idea what acting means.
So let me help you with that by recommending some films where acting has been done:-
1. Any film with AMIR KHAN.
2. Sparsh starring NASEERUDDIN SHAH.
3. Eshwar with ANIL KAPOOR.
4. ABHISHEK BACHAN in Yuva.
5. SMITA PATIL AND SHABANA AZMI in Arth.
6. ANUPAM KHER in Daddy.
7. MANISHA KOIRALA in Bombay and Khamoshi.
8. MADHURI DIXIT in Mrityudand.
9. SANJAY DUTT in Munnabhai M.B.B.S.

After this all i can say is...GROW UP you non-entity!

there are good thing about people and there are bad things people...bad things get published and good things go unnoticed! salman khan has done some brilliant films...right from the start of his career with maine pyar kiya..till date! his acting in tere naam was awsome!

we all have personal lives...and we all make mistakes! so give the guy some space!

what about aishwarya rai...first Salman Khan...then Vivek Oberoi and now Abhishek???

Cyberkickme, people are entitled to their opinions and will sometimes disagree with you. Learn to recognize the difference between them attacking your idea, and them attacking you. And remember, it is not necessary to convert everyone to your point of view!

As for Salman, I think he is demented. He is a mediocre actor ... however, his beastly conducts and sexist attitude are reasons enough for people to start hating him.

well you are right ashton cant be compared to salman, because he is a toy boy, while salman is a man. but apart from that, it might be true that salman is not liked by the media, because he doesnt suck up to them, like other bollywood stars, it also might be true that some of his films have not gotten true recognition but the truth is that salman khan has unmatched power at the box office. the reason for this is that unlike other heroes he doesnt seem supernatural, he seems human, someone the masses can identify with, and that is the reason why he enjoys their support. the masses see their escape in the persona of salman khan a rebel, who lives life at his own terms.

p.s it is only possible for salman khan to give such a super hit with such an average story, for your kind information this film is all set to pass the 25crore mark and has already made more than a million dollars in the UK market. whereas 'technically sound and critically praised,' films like paheli hardly made a difference.

Seeming human and living life on your own terms doesnt mean inflicting pain on others who you profess to love.
and a million dollars in the Uk is no big deal...lagaan made way more than that and was nominated for an oscar! Mangal Pandey is also doing really well and though the indian press is slamming it the New York times and the Guradian are praising it to the fullest. Technically sound films with good acting can be a critical as well as a box office success.
Salman may give hits with medicore acting but he will never be out inh the ranks of truly great actors who can actually move the audience with their great depth.
He is only known amongst the Indian community abroad but acotrs like Om puri, Gulshun Grover and Kabir Bedi are true crossover icons and are well known in the international film circles for their performances. while salman is still doing his moronic on screen and off screen antics, Ashwariya Rai is shooting with Hollywood stars, comming in magazines alongside Catherine Zeta Jones, being the jury mamber at Cannes, apperaing in Oprah and David Letterman, hailed by Times Magazine, New York as a youth icon and the only Indian besides Gandhi to be on the cover of time magazine. Julia Roberts called her the most beautiful woman ever!
And if Salman does charity work so do loads of other actors like Vivek Oberio, Ashwariya, Shah Rukh Khan, Amir Khan, Hrithik Roshan etc. but they dont act like uncivilised pigs towards others!

i think it is time you update your knowledge, salman khan too will soon be appearing in a main stream hollywood film, for which he was the original choice. the film has ali larter starring opposite him and will release in jan 2006, so then he too will be known. but compared to ash he has something she doesnt and that is domestic popularity. if you ask people about her last bollywood success it would take hours to find an answer. khakee, shabd, kyun...hogaya na, kuch na kaho, were all flops, what use is international fame, when you are hardly appreciated back home.
and you were further wrong in comparing the charity salman khan does to the gimmicks that other stars pull off. salman khan is the only start who does charty secretly (the way it should be done). everyone else first does press conferences, gets their photos taken and then donate a little amount. but salman doesnt go for all this publicity and whenever he is asked about the amount of charity he does, he avoids the question.
Just because you cant understand the man properly doesnt make him evil,
people like him come once in a lifetime.....

I know about the movie ...its stars ali larter who is somewhat of a B-grade actress in Hollywood....Ash is shooting the Last Legoin where she plays a Lebenese princess with Oscar Winners Ben Kingsly and Colin Firth who prominent A-list actors....she then does 'chaos' starring none other than Meryl Streep...all prominent A-list actors, not some little known teen flick actors!
As for domestioc fame, she has won 3 filmfare awards (2 best actresses and 1 best debut) to salmans one (the too for supporting role asfter years of being in the industry) and her performances in 'choker bali' and 'raincoat' were appreciated everywhere.
She hasnt come in many films recently here as she has been shooting in the West these days...though Bride and Prejudice was panned by Indian Critics, The hollywood critics compared her to Audrey Hepburn and the film was top 10 in UK and US box office for weeks.
Actors like Sunil Dutt, Rajendra Kumar, Nafisa Ali have been doing charity work without much fanfare way before salman even entered the scene.
So no big shakes if people like him come once in a lifetime.

firstly let me commend you on making salman khan such an important part of your life, its definitely a good choice. now to answer your points. awards hardly mean anything, top actors wait for 20 years to get one award and rubbish actors get them right left and center. but ash's performance in hum dil de chuke sanam was definitely worthy of an award, just like many salman khan performances that have not been awarded.
and when you talk about UK box office Mujhse Shaadi Karogi opened up at number 5 and stayed in the top ten for a while. even this time Maine Pyaar Kyun kiya opened up at number 7 and was in the top ten for two consecutive weeks.
and the domestic fame that you are talking about is a little outdated.
and its funny i read here on imdb that bride and prejudice didnt even run for a week in some US cinemas...some success huh?

And since reading your post I asked few of my british friends what they thought of Salman. here is what they said:-

* Bit of a bafoon. keeps taking of his shirt to hide his limited acting skills.
* Repetetive
* Cant dance for nuts

I dont know about India but Ashwarya is very popular here. She is featured regularly in almost all Uk publications and at times there are huge billboards of here, even in the predominantly white areas. Not only in the Uk but also in France , Germany and italy and in holland a special brand of tulips has been named after her. And she is the only Indian besides Amitabh Bachan and Mahatma Gandhi to have her own wax replica at the prestegious Madame Tussards wax museum in london. I saw it last week and it was sensational.

Am not going to comment about hers and salamns relationship but as far as international popularity is concerned, Ash is leagues ahead!

ohmigod!!! you really are out of touch with the outside world if your can call such esteemed wnd well respected international personalities fools!

And I can give you a handful of actors who are not repeptative...infact, I read the whole thread and fiery_venus has given some fine examples of commendable acting which you seem not to have read. I suggest you go to one of her earlier threads which mention this.
As for dancing Hrithik and Akshay Kumar are amazing dancers. On a recent stage show here, Akshay lit his pants on fire and kept dancing for over 15 minutes. And after extinguishing the fire, showes amazing acrobatics by lifting 3 dancers simultaneously on him! There is much more to dancing than just taking off your shirt and showing off your pumped up short and stocky physique.

You dont need to be an Ash fanatic to point out this actors shortcommings for they are plenty. And if salman was truly over Ash there was no need for him to cast an Ash lookalike (but harly as beautiful) in his movie.

It is a shame that some of you Indians instead of being proud of Ash's achievements in the domestic and international arena you choose to comdemn her and for what? The fact that she is pleasent and well behaved instead of throwing her weighht around. I saw her in london for the shooting of provoked and not only being even more stunning in real life, she was pleasent and interacted with all fans. She showed absolutely airs or graces, something which is appreciated well in the international circle. After Shabana Azmi, she is the first Indian actress to put India on the international film map but you still choose to mock and belittle her. People all over the world are awed by her beauty and grace but for you she is a south indian loser.

All I can say is learn to have a little pride about a persons sense of self worth and achievements and instead of insulting people like Sir Ben Kingsly, Oprah Winfry, Colin Firth etc. by calling them fools try accomplishing even a freaction of what they have done then have the nerve to sprak out against them.

And no, I am not an Ash fanatic but I would rather reapect a person who has contributed so much to Indian cinema rather than a repetetive actor.
