Is Ares generally considered Wonder Woman's main rival/#1 villain?

Like how the Joker is that to Batman or Lex Luthor is that to Superman? I'll be the first to admit that I'm not as familiar with the Wonder Woman mythos as I think I am with the other two. Based on what I saw on the old Superfriends cartoon, I was led to believe that Cheetah was the #1 Wonder Woman villain. Plus, I don't think that the old Lynda Carter TV series used that many members of Wonder Woman's rogues gallery from the comics.

Her relationship with the gods has always been an odd mix of antagonism, fealty, and cooperation. The gods are capricious and that makes them nearly random alignment in the history of the comic. Ares has helped and also fought WW in the past. She herself became the god of War at one point.

I personally consider Cheetah and Dr Psycho to be her arch nemeses.

Adding to what Anubis said, Ares is essentially in the background of Wonder Woman's adventures, conjuring up schemes that she must unfold in their shared history. Ironically, it's Ares's meddling in both the mortal and godly realms which incidentally caused Diana (Wonder Wonder) to become more involved in protecting Earth and appreciating the good in everyone despite their personal flaws which he seeks to manipulate.
