Maybe because it's so much better than the other DCEU fare?

because its a good movie

Mainly because it's good and the lead actress ROCKS.

People got their current year goggles on. Nobody's gonna like this movie 20 years from now. It was the right movie at the right time, it doesn't matter if it's good or not.

It was one of the best DC films ever made. Gal Gadot did a good job at playing Wonder Woman. Unlike Zack Synder's DC films, this was dark and gritty done right in order to capture the atmosphere of World War I, and Wonder Woman represented hope and optimism to counterbalance that.

There was some flaws such as the weak climax, but the first two-thirds of the film were so great that the climax doesn't really detract from it.

I thought it was cartoonish and made a mockery of WWI. I went in with low expectations since I am not a fan of any of the superhero, comic book movies. There must be some sociological force going on right now that is driving the popularity of this genre. Insert your pet theory for that here:

Why? because it's a movie about a strong woman that was directed by a woman. We live in an era where we have to put women on a pedestal otherwise you're a misogynist and threatened by women. It's sad people can't differentiate between equality and special treatment.

It was really melodramatic and overdone, including the swelling music throughout which was very distracting. Acting from Diana's mother was terrible, like the actress knew it was an overwrought piece of garbage. About the only thing I liked was the little British secretary woman--more of her please. Yeah not a fan.

ETA i was a little harsh on this film in retrospect. I liked Chris Pine and the twist with Aries at the end. Overall not bad.
