(SPOILERS) David Thewlis (famously known as Professor Lupin from Harry Potter) as Sir Patrick

Did anyone else feel that David Thewlis was out of the place as the GOD OF WAR Ares? He seems way too old for the role. Or was he casted because of the surprise element?

I don't know, all I could see was Professor Lupin in some super armour throwing stuff.

reply

David Thewlis is a non entity. I remember watching the Island of Dr. Moreau, he was the lead and it's like he didn't even exist in it.

reply

Thewlis is a fantastic actor, his lines as Ares were terrible though. They tried to copy the MoS Zod scene and it fell flat.

reply

David Thewlis should have been an illusion, then BAM!, illusion discarded and Bautista wrecking face.

reply

I agree. Well, not necessarily about taking the form of Dave Bautista, but when this nice old man revealed himself as the great and terrible God of War, he should have taken on a more fearsome form.

David Thewlis in armor just isn't a scary sight.

reply

Yeah he was so out of place it was not even funny

reply

Being a God, he can take any form he wants. Being in the form of an elderly, disabled man suited his needs. I personally don't care what other roles a actor plays. And yes, I think they cast him to make it harder for the audience to figure it out. It even had his sister fooled!

reply

That's the way I took it as well.

reply

Great actor but miscast here.
