Then in his next scene, he's partying at a castle as if nothing happened. How would such a major event go unnoticed among the rest of the German leadership and army?

"So... while we were discussing the armistice, Ludendorff and his poison gas lady showed up at a high command meeting. When they left, all the generals had been gassed. What could have happened? Meh, carry on...."
