Women don't naturally put on muscle. She shouldn't look like some roided-out freak. Her powers are not based on how much iron she pumps.

Women who work out put on muscle. If you're only thinking of big roid muscles, you need to learn more about the female anatomy. It was purely pathetic to see her "training" against Robin Wright's character. Wright has decades on her and she looked more credible as a warrior in her 10 minutes in the movie because she works out. She is lean and has muscle toned arms and legs and shoulders.

Gadot looks like she's going to trip over a rock whenever she tries to stride with purpose. It's ridiculous.

The film IS good...and she is NOT miscast.

One point of clarification: The Amazons were from Asia Minor near the Mediterranean Sea. The women of the Tapuya tribe ("Amazonas") and the Amazon River in South America are named after them.

And Superman is supposed to be a Kryptonian, yet played by a Brit.

Just curious but had you seen the film before posting this? I watched it today and thought she made a great Wonder Woman. Given that GG is supposed to be some kind of martial arts expert and had often done her own stunts and appears to be quite tall compared to the rest of the cast she certainly has the physicality for the role. But more importantly she's also really good at the sentimental and humourous stuff too. I thought the film was pretty good, perhaps lacking a little originality but lifted by GG in the lead role.

reply

lol a martial arts expert? Wow the hype is working well. She couldn't fit a donut in her current physical shape.

reply

Well her current physical shape looked pretty good to me 😃

If you like women who look like they're about to break, I guess. Still, I've practiced martial arts for over a decade and I can tell you that no woman who is any kind of a martial artist looks like that.

Personally I like my women with boobs, hips, ass and thighs but to each their own. I was just commenting on her lack of muscle, not her attractiveness.

Except that there are plenty of decent female MMA fighters who are pretty slim, too. Paige Van Zant, Michele Waterson, etc

reply

She's a terrible actress and yes, she's utterly miscast in this part. I haven't seen the movie yet, so I won't comment on it but Gadot appeared in at least two Fast & Furious movies and no one qualified to render the judgment would ever confuse anything she did in them with "acting." More to the point, Gadot is a waifish model in the heroin-chic vein--physically, pretty much the polar opposite of Wonder Woman, and no amount of padding, CGI or quick editing will be able to get around that. Casting her was a profound insult and if the movie succeeds at all, it will be despite that choice.

I thought so too, when she was cast - shook my head in disbelief and thought "yeah, this is gonna suck". After watching the movie, though, I'm gonna have to disagree - couldn't have hit the mark much closer than they did with her.

"...from the Amazon." As in the Amazon River, the Amazonian river basin? South America?

As opposed to *being* an Amazon from the Mediterranean and Greece, which is just a hop-skip from Israel?
