Watching the 'Logan' trailer made me realize something...

If this movie is going to take place in WWI, it should've been rated R. Of course, we all know there's not a chance that this movie will get an R-rating, but then why bother even making this a war movie? War movies shouldn't be kid-friendly CGI extravaganzas.

I'm not saying Wonder Woman is a character who has to be in an R-rated movie, but if she's going to be cutting people down in one of the most brutal wars in human history, the movie might as well be rated R. PG-13 war movies just seem like a pointless idea, and before anyone brings up the first Captain America film, that movie focused more on having him fight Hydra, rather than any actual Nazis.

Within the confines of a PG13 rating, I would have aimed for something along the lines of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Watching it as an adult it's surprising how brutal that one was given the PG rating.

What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.

The PG-13 rating didn't actually exist back when Raiders of the Lost Ark was released. Incidentally, the movie's sequel is what led to the PG-13 rating in the first place.

You bring up a interesting point. It does feel inevitable that DCEU will eventually release an R rated movie.

Just out of curiousity which title do you think would need to be or work best as an R?

Justice League Dark?
Suicide Squad sequel?
Harley Quinn spinoff?

I'm thinking Justice League Dark?

reply

I don't think they have plans on making any films in the DCEU an R.

Why take down pointless Nazi soldiers when you can kill their leader? Captain America knows what hes doing :)

Ithink Aguaman Rated R would be interesting or Cyborg. Cyborgs accident and his father trying to put him back together would look very bloody & good.

This time around I think Wonder Woman will benefit from an inclusive family friendly rating. Before she can be fully utilised as a character (in the way Batman is) her brand needs to increase in relevance and popularity.., Let's face it, she's been awol for decades so making her first feature a niche film that only adults can watch would be a mistake. I'd rather her first foray be inclusive and then have a more nuanced and darker take further down the line once audiences have re-accepted her back into popular culture.
