My overview on the state of the DCEU...

I frankly am starting to think there was never anyway they could have made these movies work to begin with. Marvel already beat DC to the punch in terms of building a shared universe, so no matter what WB/DC did, they would always be perceived as simply playing catch up.

A lot of people are trying to argue that they needed to take their time with these movies, but really, that's basically what they've been attempting to do. BvS had an almost 3-year gap following MoS, and the Justice League movie will be the 5th film in this shared universe. Besides, they already tried to go the route of giving each one of their characters solo movies with Green Lantern, and it needed up failing, even though they had a fairly acclaimed director for the film.

Bottom line, WB/DC have pretty much been in a lose-lose situation from the very beginning. Many people will try to argue that their big problem is Zack Snyder, but he's not the reason that GL and SS turned out the way they did. WB/DC just simply can't win no matter what they do. Even if Chris Nolan was theoretically the director of these movies, I still think they would have turned out poorly in the eyes of critics and fans.

All DC had to do was create quality films.

Which is scientifically impossible in a shared universe. They could get Martin Scorsese to direct, and it would still fail.

Precisely. Just because one studio does it first doesn't automatically mean others cannot. That's ludicrous.

What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.

Why did you bump up a thread that's over 2 months old?
