Why Did the Little Boy Go Crazy?

I don't understand why the little boy go into the cave and turn mean superstrong and crazy?

reply

imo... He was the only survivor of a plane crash, he was young and alone and there was no telling how long he was on his own before he went into the cavern, he was burned badly on the face and the cavern had provided shade... instead of him being out in the sun, and he probably was in shock and really didn't know what to do, and where the cavern was at... was in uncharted territory. So, the cavern must had been far away from anykind of civilization.
Did you notice, close at the end, how the 2 women responded and acted when they had seen the water and supposely 'meat'?... they had acted like a bunch of wild hogs.

There's a light at the end of the tunnel... just pray it's not a train.

Yeah, but him living in a cave does not explain why his human voice turned into a bear growl...
Or got him his super strength, so he could use those giant boulders as doors...
Or super craziness, to make him want to kill everything and everyone....
Or super speed, so he could could pull that girl into the cave, knock her unconscious, run through the cave system to the entrance of the pit, climb up the wall of the pit, remove the boulder he used to seal the pit (while hanging on the wall), run out of the cave, run around the mountain to the other entrance where the last girl was, so he could pull her out from the other side - all in about 10 seconds. Because that is what he must have done right before the last scene, right?

reply

Bear Growl: 1) good way to scare your prey 2) no communication with other humans for about 20 years. Hence the whole "costume" which probably was used in hunting for game in the surrounding forest.

Super Strength: Did you not have the version with the BowFlex in the cave? :) Seriously, he's had to survive on his own. Perhaps moving the boulders was a bit too much, perhaps he has part of the plane as a pry bar, but I'm sure he's been wrestling bears in the Kazakstan woods for years...that'll toughen you up :)

As for the super craziness... this one I thought was probably the most straightforward. Who did he kill - all the men. Very simply, he's the Alpha male, and I guess the Omega male as well. He was keeping the other men away from his territory to steal their women. Yes, he did kill the one that pissed him off at the end, but again, 20 years in a cave tends to affect ones chivalry.

Super speed: Well, hunting game probably helped, but he also probably knows the cave system real well.

super smart for killing the most annoying girl first

supernatural control over helmet lights. I wonder if there is a director's cut where they explain that.

Sabalon, are you serious?

Can you possibly try to reason the stupidity of this film into a form of twisted logic? There is none.

reply

First off, worst movie ever.

Second, what was the deal when the white guy appears to have shot the 'monster' to death and looks over saying something like 'this is unreal' then gets stabbed??

Was this caveman boy smart enough to play possum like that? Was he really hit with a bullet?? Or was that just a big furry blanket laying around??

I don't really care...but still...

I agree the movie sucked horribly. the ending was weird. i kinda got grossed out by the ending. i think the little boy is a cannibal, wait, not think, the boy is a cannibal whoops but i think he went crazy because well there is nothing to eat there so maybe some people went exploring the cave and he ate them thus making him a cannibal. and the white guy saw that the "monster" was unreal as in that it was a costume or somthing and found out that the thing was a person and then the "monster" stabbed him.

Hehe. Boy. Okay, I'll explain it for you.

The "white guy" says "this is unreal" because he realizes that either

a) it's a human in animal hide

-or-

b) it is merely animal hide, which he probably noticed was intentionally crafted to fit a human.

He figured out that there was human involvement and that it wasn't merely a "beast," one way or the other.

I think his explanation was quite obvious.

You must not have watched much of the movie, it was explained quite clearly that the cave was intensely magnetic, and that interfered with their equipment.

reply

OK your right, but it makes was more sense than the crawlers in the Decent or the bat-alien-monster craps in The Cave. It's a movie come on!

"Did you notice, close at the end, how the 2 women responded and acted when they had seen the water and supposely 'meat'?... they had acted like a bunch of wild hogs."

yeah, i noticed that, it was just another in a long line of terrible plot points.

The thirst I could understand and get behind...but who just starts shoving mystery meat into their mouths? I saw the and was like wtf are they eating and my husband was like "soylent green".
As far as the movie not being realistic etc how is he all super strong and fast etc...one word: movie. Not reality. Like, The Hills Have Eyes, deformed cannibals are always hella strong. Does anyone question why Tarzan is King of the Jungle?
IMO Little boy goes crazy because he is orphaned in a fiery plane crash, suffered horrific burns, alone for decades, he's not really crazy but feral.
When the women wake up in the cave wearing just furs I just thought OMG they were kidnapped by Bigfoot.

From what I remember the plane accident happened near where Chernobyl occured so the kid may have been exposed to some radiation. That and being on his own may have just changed him somewhat.

The twist made zero sense imo. Movie look good for the budget...but rather not see it again.

reply

it wasn't a 'twist', it was a very very clear explanation. You're probably used to stephen king movies where nothing is resolved and yet we are still expected to marvel at him when the movie ends(without actually 'ending').

reply

Two explanations:

(1) Pissed he blew his audition for the "Messin' with Saskwatch" ad campaign.

(2) Was repeatedly forced to watch the dailies for this film as an underhanded way for the director to give the actor motivation for his part.
