$150,000 Budget

You know, for a $150,000, this movie is pretty damn good. Loved the story, the style, the darkness, sound, the acting...it was a total experience!
And you know, it's being compared to two other cave movies with budgets infinitely larger. I think the director, cast and crew did an amazing job, considering. The Cave was spending something like $200,000 a single day on their shoot for a total of 30 millioin dollars!! The Descent was spending something like $20,000 a day and had 8 million dollars! The Cavern had $150,000 for the entire film! Hats off to the filmmakers.

This still does not matter. I could not stand the fact that the camera was constantly shaking and there would be no light for up to ten seconds. At first we thought that the reason for the shaking and the strange lighting effects were to disguise the fact that they did not have th emoney to create a good cgi monster. Instead in the end we learn the monster is just an insane mane with pelts and a skull face. This was no reason to have terrible camera work. The story was an awful piece of work. The monster turned out to be some freak but what I want to know is how a human like him can move boulders and how he has survived down in those caves which clearly have no food. This was an awful movie and I am very glad that I fast forwarded through all the boring and terrible chatter.

School is out for summer, IMDB feel my wrath.

Hmm, slowwber, would you mind putting the words SPOILER ALERT in your messages if you are going to unveil parts of the plot? Thanks.

ROFL - AMEN to that! Please...spoiler alert....as if it matters.

dude speak for yourself mate, it's your opinion!! ;)
and b.t.w the spoiler alert is a must to mention!!!

reply

IMDB feels your wrath alright. Whether you think the movie sucks or not, theres no excuse for posting spoilers without a warning. Imdb should ban the jackasses who now have nothing better to do (because school is out presumeably)that post spoilers without warnings. They totally suck.

No matter how you look at it, 150k is very impressive for an entire feature film. A film I happened to like a lot. Donit understand these comments about it being too dark -- seemed realistic to me, it is in a cave after all. Flahslights can't light up an entire cave. I really enjoyed this movie -- makes me wonder if the people who didn't were watching the same movie because they vehemently hate it. Granted I respect their opinion, because it's an opinion, but I don't get it, its just not a bad movie.

I thought that this movie had good promises and Olatunde Osunsami had shown good skills at writing and directing an horror movie... it just that a lot of the shaking, the angles of the camera, and the film's darkness was just a little too much at times... kind of an overkill. Sometimes less is more.

There's a light at the end of the tunnel... just pray it's not a train.

The darkness and the cave enviroment can be accepted as a choise of the filmmaker. They aren't that bad either (in my opinion it goes well with the concept).

But what about the parts that don't make any sense.
I mean the movie itself :P is...

A human monster that is capable of climbing up and down the walls...

It lives underneath the caves and can see in absolute darkness.

But the light does not disturb it in any means.

Moreover, it is able to set a fire after all those years.
God only knows the source to the woods burning.

Feed on other humans, many people were lost around and no one has ever inspected what's going on.

Somehow it is resistant to gun fire :)

It can rip a man into two. And it also burns them somehow.

I really did not enjoy the movie this way...
Maybe I shouldn't have watched it after "The Cave" and especially after "The Descent".

It's not about budget. It's about respect to the viewers.

Stupid girls screaming, people yelling each other while the tempo is rising. But these doesn't make a movie interesting or attractive.

It could have been a wonderful movie but unfortunately it isn't...

And why the hell does everyone's batteries suddenly start draining whenever he is approaching? How can a man that's lived underground be doing this? What a stupid movie.

Shooting a film for $150k is something to be proud of.
There were a few good things in this film - but I simply could not suffer the cast screaming. Holy snappin' *beep* - I have never seen a film with so much panic and screaming from an ensemble cast. VERY annoying.
