The plot is a horrid mess of a blatant King ripoff...

Just finished watching this - it was plagued by horribly bad acting and directing. The scenes where she is slowly, casually 'jogging' from room to room while fleeing for her life from monsters made me literally laugh out loud at how awful it was. It was such a bad acting/horror cliche, it would have fit right in in 'scary movie'... along with the rest of the movie.

Aside from the fact that it now holds a place among the worst 5 movies ive ever seen (among queen of the damned, ghost game, etc.), the entire hospital/vampire plot is a complete ripoff of the novella "Little Sisters of Eluria" from Stephen King's "Everything's Eventual".

I hope King sues their asses for this.

And don't forget about "Autopsy Room 4"

reply

At least you can't say it's a ripoff of "Kingdom Hospital." That was a rip--er, remake of a Scandinavian movie.

I'm not seeing that..

reply

You don't see how it's a rip off of AR4?

Watch the very beginning where she's having the dream that she's awake about to be operated on. That's the entire plot of the short story/novella in Everything's Eventual.

King was not the first person to do that, either. (Yes, I know it's an old post, I'm just watching the movie for the first time). I've read an older story than Autopsy Room 4, I'm sure of it. (Not saying AR4 wasn't a great story, though...King is amazing, despite what some of his detractors might say).

Thank you for naming the novella it was ripping off- I knew the movie was extremely familiar but couldn't remember the title of the work!
'The Little Sisters' is actually a rip off (or based on) several old legends of groups of women (sometimes fake nuns) who would capture wounded men, tend their wounds, and then feed on them or kill them; I remember that in one variation, possibly the original, the women had all been abused or abandoned by men which was their motivation for killing random men. Another variation shows up in Arthurian legend... and King admits that he draws a lot of ideas from that.
Anyway, thanks for reminding me of the title!

well, they stole many camera shots from Jacob's Ladder.

reply

Sith- I was just about to say that I found it to be sort of a rip off of Jacob's Ladder but I still liked it. Same with one of the Hellraiser movies, can't remember witch one, though.

reply

Dude - 'Hellseeker.' The one withthe cop, right? Now that - for a low budget flick - *was* awsome.

reply

LOL! i had the same thought!
I thought she was running extremely slow for someone running for their life.

we just now finished watching this mess of a movie. this could have been a good movie. when in need of emergency medical assistance, it is frightening to be at the mercy of strangers. every hosp employee knows how short staffed we are on the night shifts, etc. play up the partial surgical sedation (really happens), no one to answer call lights, less than stellar staff. man oh man this could have been really scary. a little bit of truth really scares me...

reply

i think the whole story was very similar to the movie STAY!!

reply

I agree that the plot was a mess. It was totally incoherent. But I disagree about the acting. Ch. Taylor was not that bad.

reply

Uh huh...

Just count how many times she gives that little painfully phony exasperated 'sigh' before she says her lines...

Drove me up the friggin' wall...

ILOVEtrading films!I've got a HUGE..uh..collection!Please ask!

You have never seen any really bad movie.

Try any of the following:
-Turkish Star Wars/Rambo/whatever other Turkish rip-off
-Dingo Pictures cartoons (often sold with "budget" games)
-any of about 1 million films by Godfrey Ho
and many many more.

I enjoyed the movie. I agree with you about it resembling the Little Sisters of Eluria. It even started with three male patients in the room like the King story did. I think it took a lot of elements from many movies as well, but I still found it to be a fun movie to watch if you have some time to kill.
