For the most part, I preferred the musical numbers in "Truth Or Dare"... though "Amercian Life" and the "Lament" from "Evita" were very well done... "American Life" blew me away.

The non-musical scenes... like the behind-the-scenes stuff as well as the glimpses into her personal life... I like "I'm Going To Tell You a Secret" WAY better. The sex stuff in "Truth or Dare" got odl after a while... the things about spirituality were much more interesting I felt. Plus, she seems like a much nicer an dmore real person in this one. "Truth or Dare" she seemed to be putting on more of a show all through it... which got to seem a bit fake and forced after a while.

In the words of Madonna, she was being "consciously provocative" in Truth or Dare, and I didn't think she fully pulled it off. She was way too self-conscious back then to pull off being such a vixen - she was like a teenager waiting by the phone when Warren Beatty hadn't called her...
But now, she seems much more comfortable in her own skin and in her status as one of the world's most famous people.
As for the musical numbers, I disagree - I LOVED the musical numbers from Truth or Dare. No one had ever done a concert like that before.

At the end of the special edition video of "Truth Or Dare", they have a couple of bonus concert scenes... one of the scenes is "Like a Prayer"... and, it was so much more elaborate in the Blonde Ambition Tour than "Like a Prayer" was in the Reinvention Tour.

Of course, "Truth or Dare" was really my first exposure to Madonna... it was the movie that made me a fan so perhaps it's only natural that I think of the Blonde Ambition Tour as her definitive tour. The other concerts have been good BUT none of them have truly lived up to what was done there.

well i thought madonna was really cool and i looked up to her but when i saw truth or dare i kind of backed off i had already been let down by christena aglaira that i didnt want another one of my role models to let me down again. christena let me down by going bad to the point where i said no!that cant be the girl i looked up too not the girl that sang a song about being yourself she says that going bad was a good thing but she will never know how many kids like me she let down im so glad that madonna stoped her self from doing that once again im really proud of her.

The thing that upsets me most about Christina Agulera is she had the talent to be another Celine Dion... they had her on some show singing an old standard by a piano in an old fashioned dress. She sounded graet and looked classy. Instead, she tried to out-do Britney Spears in sluttiness. The result: she is making more money right now but her career will NOT last as long as it could have. She will not have the longevity of Celine Dion or Madonna... smutty as Madonna could be... she knew when to call it quits. Also, she never stooped as low as the girls today are. Madonna did over-the-top sexy stuff (like Cher did before her). These girls today dress and act like street whores. They lose all credibility and respectability. Okay, respectability has never been everything in the arts but credibility has!

the problem with people like britney and christina is they don`t seem to know where they are going with their careers. They don`t seem to have much artistic freedom, everything is the same. Dancing these days seems to be ultra fast, energetic rubbish that the normal person cannot relate to. the choreography madonna seems to use is slower and more beleivable. there is very little that is arty to modern pop music. christina can sing very well but seems to be slighty wasted at the quality of her songs. and britney has the better songs (opps i did it again, toxic etc) but her singing isn`t that clear because of a weak voice. What happened to the art in pop music?

Yeah I agree. She's grown up. I really didn't like that earlier stuff at all. She even apologised to Kevin Costner at one of her concerts in L.A. that he went to with his kids a year or two ago. Theres a page on the 'net somewhere or other where he mentions it.

I totally agree, I think that in Truth or dare she was a bit staged but in I'm Going to Tell You A Secret she seemed more vulnerable, more like a normal person on and off stage.

Although I don't like Guy Ritchie AT ALL so I didn't like that part of the documentary... Her children are adorable though and so well behaved for 'celebrity kids'.
It's weird though cause in the early days Madonna always used to hate London for the bad publicity, and it's weird now that she lives there! I don't think she's too fond of the typical english life.

As for her Kabbalah... That started in her "Ray of Light" period, and I think that's one of her best albums. I thin it helped her as an artist to grow and mature.

reply

I definitely think Truth or Dare was more staged.

I don't think either of these provided a true glimpse into her life or what she's really like. But I do think she she's a much more positive person in Secret.

Lead me not into temptation...Who am I kidding? Follow me, I know a shortcut!
