Echo Park Gang/ Mi Vida Loca

Just out of curiosity even though these two movies are unrelated...the EP sign Carlos "Threw" up was that just a general sign for Echo Park, or was Carlos actually supposed to be part of the same "Clique" that would as the the one in the "Mi Vida Loca" movie.
