So was Tio Tomas gay? (possible spoilers)

I mean he never married, had more friendships with women vs. relationships, and that scene where he asks Carlos about his "special friend" kinda give a hint.

Any comments?

I shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy.

You bring up a very good point. I never even thought of that. But I never got the impression he was gay. I looked at Tio Tomas as the glue in the family. In my family we have an aunt who is very much like Tio Tomas.

She decided not to get married for personal reason. So maybe the character Tio Tomas decided not to get married.

But again you bring up a good point.

I guess it's possible, but he seems like he would have just been straightforward and shared that with Carlos, especially since he must have known how alone Carlos was feeling. My gut instinct is that he was not gay. He seemed to be very honest and the stories of the girls in Mexico were probably true. I think he just was a good guy who did not believe in judging others. That is why both Carlos and Magdalena end up living with him. He accepts them unconditionally. When he refers to Carlos' special friend, I think he is just letting him know that he accepts his choices and thinks it is good for Carlos if he has founds someone who he can relate to and connect with.

Sometimes an idea is so bad that it starts to be good again.

I wondered the same thing. He never married, etc. Maybe it was a hint that he had had male relationships in his life, but they left this kind of vague. Look how well he decorated his house! (A bit of stereotypical joke)

Naw, I don't think so.

"Do you even remember what you came here to find?"
