I feel kind of stupid, but I didn't get this movie

Can somebody please tell me the storyline in a quick summary, I had no idea what was happening throughout the film.

Don't feel stupid, I definitely had to re-watch it. That's what I would recommend. Much of it came together for me on the second time around. Even after the 2nd time I still have some questions about things, hence why I'm reading this board I guess.

This movie is regarded by some as a masterpiece. To me, well I couldn't pass the first 15 m. Horrible ! Sorry, impossible to swallow.

I admit it was hard to follow at the beginning, but once it got going it was very good.

And anytime someone says they didn't watch the whole thing...well...you kinda lose any credibility. How can you make a judgment on something you didn't even see entirely?

If you watch the whole thing and then say it was garbage, then you have a valid point.

You can't judge it on the first 15 minutes. I was confused for the first half of the movie, as the viewer is supposed to be. If you don't like that, that's fine, but it's hard to take your opinion seriously when you've only watched an eighth of it.

Roger Ebert did. If a movie can't grab you in the first twenty minutes, feel free to tune out. Life is top precious to waste it on a single movie when there are so many other movies.

The only thing this movie really had going for it was the final act. It felt as if that was the only reason it was made and it's a great idea. for such a slow paced methodical movie it was a surprisingly quick final act and doesn't give the movie enough to be considered good IMO.

There are some very bleak and interesting Therese resonating throughout, but the execution was clunky and didn't fit together. I was also hoping for more screen time and overall dialogue by the murderer.

it is a very confusing film for the first hour.
