remake?

I was flipping through channels earlier and saw a movie called Sing Boy Sing. About a boy who grew up on gospel music then has a career as a hit musician but then goes back to gospel music at the peak of his career much to his manager's distress. The movie was like from 1958 or something like that. Anybody know if this is a remake of that?
