When are we going to get it together in film?

When will African American writers and producers get it together. "The Gospel" is possibly one of the worst movies that I've ever seen in my life. Why is the African American audience being constantly force fed this saccharine drivel. I went to see it just because I wanted to support black film. However I left the theatre feeling gyped. It is the same old garbage. A Christian theme, gospel music, and pretty actors. I don't even remember the plot.

No wonder we have a hard time getting anything green lit in Hollywood. We continually cater to the TBN audience as opposed to wide audiences.

The Gospel gets an F- from me.

Do you have love for your girl New York?

I have to agree, same old garbage. Cookie cutter. Won't say its the worst movie but it was a little unbearable because of all the singing. I expected a more polished film (writing, acting, editing).

I enjoyed the movie. Was it oscar worthy? no but there r a lot worse black films than this. i mean they cast Boris in the lead role and HE CANT SING. Why they would cast someone who needs to lip sing thru the entire film is BEYOND ME. But i remember the plot jst fine. I did like the message. I like what they were trying to do with the film. The message was good. But how r all black movies christian themes? r u kidding me? I can see a lot less christian themed than they are. Yes, Tyler Perry does christian themes but goodness he has done a TINY portion of the black films in the big picture. I wish more black movies had good values... instead of rubbish like Soul Plane. But I mean I wouldnt diss it for its values. Bad casting yes. But hey, I really enjoyed the music. And i like what they were aiming with. I may be bias because I do follow Jesus and like to have those values apparent but at the same time I don't only watch films that have a undertone.
