I completely agree. I saw this post is already a couple of years old, but I just watched this movie. There were too many scenes where they were "talking serious" about growing up and being what you want to be and stuff like that. What stroke me at the most awful though, was that the ones who made the movie didn't seem to have a clue about horses.
How did this guy have a talent? If he did he would be able to keep himself in the saddle every once in a while. He hadn't even sat on a horse his intire life and then he suddenly decided to try for the derby? And you don't just stop taking care of the horse just because you're grieving. He stopped training it as well, and they didn't seem to train his condision at all, plus they "didn't have time" to warm up the horse before the race. It's not a good moral when you make it seem that it's unrealisticly easy to become a champion, and you don't take care of the horses. Talent will only get you this far, about 95% of what you achieve comes from strong will and years of training.
Oh, and I love Buffy too :)
