Question...

Can you fly in-game and if so what path/tree do I need to select in order to do so?

You get flight at lvl 14 but you could get Air Sup. until then. I don't recomment Hover. Its a cute no-power. With Air Sup at least you can still hit someone. I suggest you build up your short range / long range powers till then.

Well, actually, there is more to it that what this poster said. Every 2 levels you get to choose a new power. At level 6, you gain access to "pool powers", one of which is FLIGHT. The actual "Fly" power can be taken at a minium of level 14 and you have to have 1 of the 2 earlier powers first.

You have to take either Air Superiority (a good melee attack that will 'knock down' the target) or Hover. Hover is very slow version of fly (later on you can enhance the speed of hover to be as fast as your character sprinting). Hover has 2 main (and important) purposes: 1) If you are a ranged attack character, you can "hover" away from most enemies and stay out of harm and avoid getting swarmed and 2) hover protects your character from "knock down" attacks.

one more thing, hover is really slow, as a travel power it's useless, except to navigate tall structures or walls, instead of going around.
However one thing that it has, that Air Sup. and fly don't, is def bonus.
While fly does make you harder to hit, it has no bonus. You'll just have to do your own research and play around with your toons. You can always respec and change powers in the future. I for one would recommend Air Sup, then fly.

Air Sup isn't much as far as damage, but it hits 90% of the time, and will cause flying targets to become grounded.
