HMMM....

I feel like the whole thing is forced. It seems like there are 2 completely different stories from 2 total different books squished together. It's confusing, and not in the makes-you-think good confusing, but I think the director and screenplay writer were confused themselves confusing. OK, writing that was confusing!
I dig the creepy aspects to it. But without a good solid story behind it, it really lost alot of appeal. :(

Well, I think it's a bad idea to approach Asian horror films (especially) as if they're going to make a lot of logical sense . . . as most of them do not, so that pretty clearly does not seem to be an aim. They need to be watched differently.

On the other hand, I agree that that can make it much harder to become invested in the story, which can result in not liking a film as much.

I thought that Chakushin ari 2, like the first Chakushin ari, was okay, but just okay. I had more of a problem with both with derivativeness--it seems almost like they looked at a lot of recent popular Asian horror films (especially the Ring and Ju-On series) as a template to follow. "We need one of those, one of these, a scene kinda like that . . ." etc. It just made me wish that I was watching the Ring or Ju-On series again instead.
