I agree with you. And I also agree with another poster that said that the main characters' "good sides" are killed leaving their "negative sides" as puppets.
In the first movie, one of the ladies taking care of Nanako (Mimiko's sister) commented that Mimiko was a kind girl leading the viewer to believe that their mother was abusive.
In the second movie, during the autopsies, they found coal dust in Mimiko's body (Lili's method of killing people). Possibly, Lili reached out and killed the part of Mimiko that was good and possessed her to abuse her little sister.
Mimiko was probably not loved in her family because she's the child conceived from a rape by a lunatic.
Yumi suffered abuse from her mother and was traumatized after being forced to look at her grandmother hanging from a rafter (suicide).
Takako was being abused by her father (she tells Kyoko and Naoto that her twin sister was not touched by their father), started to hate her twin and wished she was gone, and regretted that it came true.
So, it seems like Lili chooses her puppets depending on what they've gone through. They're all essentially killer ghosts with Mimiko having her own trademark (the candy and the theme song) But who knows why Lili uses the same song.
