Brothers In Arms Movie Cast

I have just finished BIA:RTH30 at the "Hard" level of difficulty and suddenly, an idea struck. If there is ever a BIA movie, I would like the cast to be
(most are based on looks and resemblence to the BIA characters):

Matt Baker: John Travolta
Joe Hartsock: Colin Farrell
Robert Cole: Sean Penn
General Eisenhower: Patrick Stewart
Kevin Leggett: Joseph Fiennes
George Risner: Christian Slater
Michael Desola: Brandon Routh
The rest you guys out there may not know
Greg Hassay: Larry Bagby
Sam Corrion: Alexander Polinsky
Stephan Obrieski: Corbin Allred
Tom Zanovich: Matthew Black
Larry Allan: Mark Ruffalo
Michael Garnett: Nathan Crooker
Johnny Rivas: Peter Asle Holden
Jack Courtland: Brian Van Holt

reply

Tom Sizemore would make a good Hassay

I honestly think that Mac was modelled after Sizemore's character in SPR.
And yes, Travolta looks like Baker somewhat. But I wouldn't choose him.

Most of the guys you picked would be great how ever they wouldn't fit the age of the character or like like that age. and come on Sean Penn Doing Something patriotic yeah right. This really wouldn't work as a movie in order to do it any justice you would have to do it in a mini series like Band of Brothers. You would have to cut out alot of the action.

reply

C'mon, Sean Penn did "The Thin Red Line" and did a good job.

reply

Mostly, not bad choices, but most of the actors are a bit old to convincingly play the younger troops (admittedly, I don't know most of the later ones). I could see Routh, Slater, maybe Fiennes. Travolta is just far too old for the role, but you might get away with Tom Jane.

I have trouble with Farrell playing anyone called Red. Maybe Barry Pepper.

Sean Penn would never take such a role. Despite the claims of Thin Red Line, his war movies are more like Platoon, the dysfunctional nutjob circus war movie-genre. TTRL was much the same. And the most pressing problem, he isn't imposing enough to be Cole. My choice would be an actor whose name escapes me, but he played the T-1000 and is now the Colonel in The Unit.

Patrick Stewart has too much of the english gentleman to carry off the Kansas farm boy, but I was impressed by Tom Selleck's work in the A&E movie.

Hassay is a Sizemore all the way, but you could get away with Jason Isaacs a la Black Hawk Down.

Generally, though, you'd probably have to go with mostly unknowns and a few veteran actors - the classic example would be The Big Red One.

reply

Nope. I definitely don't see Barry as a Red-head. I just think that the look from SPR suits him quite well.

Know what? This could actually make a pretty solid movie. I can just see Cole's Charge now. It would almost be like the "finishing blow" scene to take Hill 210 in TTRL.

I still think to do it justice you would have to do it a mini series. Sure Sean Penn is a good actor but it just wouldn't work. Especially since he is known as a political activiste. I agree that it would have to be with a few veteran actors and unkowns just like with Band of Brothers some of the main actors as done stuff but not enough to be a well known figure. To were you just see the actor as himself and not the character he is portraying

Campbell = Jude Law
