Not THAT Bad!!!

Ok so the person who wrote their opinion of this on the main page has no sense of humour at all.
When buying this movie you should really know what you are in for... It's Petchtai Wongkamlao for gods sake! He is a great comedian.
It is a little misleading having 'The return of Tony Jaa' on the front. But to be honest ignore that. Do not see this movie for the sole purpose of Tony Jaa, he is in it for about a minute.
Buy this film NOT for intense action, a great storyline or serious movie making. Buy it because it is very funny, if you have a sense of humour that is.
The sub-titles are a little patchy, but then again they never read as what exactly is being said.
The fight scene near the end where Wong Kom takes on a few men is good, a bit cheesey, but funny.
If you did not realise that this film was not so serious while watching it, then you need your head sorted out. Right from the guy who doesnt wear the right clothes, to the reference to Tony Jaa about being in the wrong film it is hinted at that it is not serious.

Petchtai Wongkamlao has made a solid movie that is entertaining. The action sequences are good, it has a great sense of humour and a nice selection of Thailands best actors.

Do not compare this to Ong Bak, because they are in no way meant to be the same kind of film.

I am not saying rush out and buy it, it will not be to everyones taste. But if you pass it by at a bargain price or rent it out, it should entertain.

Well said, yes, it's a strangely funny movie, and on the cover and what not any person with somewhat of a mind can figue out that he's only in it for about a minute, and he even makes an Ong Bak reference. Seriously funny movie, don't be like "WHERE IS TONY?! AHHHHHHHHHH!" you'll just be disappointed, watch this with no expectations, you'll love it as strange as it is.

Yes, a good movie but there is though one thing I didn't understand. Where is Costner and Houston? Is this a bodyguard movie or not?

reply

Yeah its not too bad. Theres a fair bit of jackie chan type humour, especially the outtakes at the end (love those in chan films).

The story wasnt great, and I was confused at times when random people showed up.

According to the subs they said "wanker" a lot. Wonder what the actual translation is... :p

Lol this movie was funny. Really stupid/cheesy, but in a good way. And omg ChaiChol (the son) is soooo cute. *drool*

I don't have the subtitle version, but that's okay since I am Thai. But it's funny to hear what they are truly saying not what the subtitles say because it differs. I was busting my balls off when Tony Jaa made a cameo appearance at the Supermarket. These lines made me laugh so hard.

(As Tony and Petchtai walk past each other)

(Spoken in Thai but translated)
Petch: Thank you.
Tony: No problem bak Humlae [Humlae meaning dirty balls] (a quick referrence to Ong Bak.)

Great little comedy, sub-titles really make it funny. Quite a gem to have in your DVD collection.

It's ok. Parts of it are funny. I admit I was expecting something else bt I should have read the review on the back of the box that said, "Explosive Humor". After about 3 minutes into the movie I realized it was not an action movie bt an action comedy, thai style. I should have realized just by looking at Wongkamlao that this was a comedy. The dim henchman who kept wearing silly costumes and his boss were funny. I get the impression he's a well-known celeb in Thailand by the ending where he breaks character. Alot of the humor was way too silly though.

Tony Jaa's part was cool bt distracting.

The scene where that guy's squirting water up the bodyguard's ass was hilarious but the rest of the humor I didn't understand at all, some of it might have been the execution but a lot of it was just lame. The guy wearing the wrong clothes had potential to be amusing but I found myself not laughing at it, same with that guy with the blue hair who's wearing makeup, there's no explanation as to why he's doing that, you'd assume he's gay but then at the end of the movie he cries about Pok getting married? And the part with the midget throwing his wife through a wall wasn't funny at all, some things are okay to laugh at but I didn't find domestic abuse cause for guffaws.

Then towards the end when the bodyguard's taking on all the henchmen, guys just start showing up out of nowhere, that made absolutely no sense at all. Also there's that guy who goes around the slum speaking like a philosopher, I had no idea what the hell he had to do with anything.

Overall I thought this movie was poor, it could've done without the lame humor and with much better writing.
