Shakespeare's worst play

So I just finished reading As You Like It for a college class and this is hands down his worst work IMHO. I have read Othello, R&J, Hamlet, and Julius Cesaer, and they are far more conplex and deep than AYLI.

I just felt that the whole plot was over the top (in a bad way) and that the ending was incredibly contrived. How is it that critics these days get pissed at comedies that are fun and have obviously planned out endings, yet this play is so applauded?

Sorry but why does she have to continue to dress up like a man? The initial reason was to find her father in the forrest in a safe disguise. But then she continues to parade around in order to 'fix'(the best way I can describe it) Orlando's love for her. I can maybe understand that she enjoys the freedom it gives her, but again it feels contrived, especially since no one seems to realize that he is a she (which is even more appauling in this movie- Howard does not even try to act like a boy).

I had to vent and I thank god that IMDB is here for that.
There’s no one on IMDB I care enough for to use spell check- suck it grammar Nazis

Many of them are like that. "The Taming of the Shrew" could be called sexist, and "The Comedy of Errors" is just plain dumb - my nomination for Shakespeare's worst play. "A Midsummer Night's Dream" is not deep, but it's very entertaining. If you want depth, you will have to look to the great tragedies or the histories. It isn't always depth that makes Shakespeare great, it's the language too, if you can appreciate it.

Much Ado about Nothing is. It's ONE subplot stretched out until boredom settled in...
