What a jem

This was shown on BBC2 in the wee small hours last night. I was intrigued by the synopsis so I decided to record it and give it a go the next day. And what a little jem this turned out to be!

Whilst it's not overly scary (nor do I think it's meant to be), it's certainly a very thrilling and nevertheless creepy piece. I think Maru Valdivielso played Rebeca wonderfully. I particularly loved the empty disco scene with "Yes Sir, I Can Boogie" by Baccara playing over her zombie hazed eyes! A wonderful sequence. Also great to see Ivana Baquero as Moni which was a nice surprise.

This appears to be little known outside of Spain judging by the ratings on here (8/10 for me). I'll be keeping my eyes open to see if the BBC show any more of the Films to Keep You Awake series anytime soon.

I have to agree as well. I too recorded it off BBC2 and found it to be a fantastic film, well shot and tons of 80's references. I'm going to track down the other 5 films in this series now!

Adios,

Jem is the perfect word! I love combing the TV in the small hours for odd little films like this, always finds you the best material!

Feels like an 80's slasher all the time. What a dirty, little gem. I regret I didn't tape it!

I downloaded it and watched it yesterday

its a corker, a real fun 80's vibe to it.

have any of you seen the rest ?

I've watched To Let which is more of a survival horror, still good but a totally different tone, i did get a bit frustated to how much of a pussy the main guy is tho

This is the second Spanish movie I've seen on Fearnet on demand and they have both been great! This is one of those hidden gems. I thought it was a great story and while watching it I wasn't sure how they would keep such a good story going but they did! I'm going to reccommend to people for sure.

Fun! This was a hell of a lot of fun! This one and The Baby's Room are my two faves of the "6 Films..."

I loved it, it reminded me of the great 80's and early 90's kid adventure, horror, and fantasy movies like The Goonies, The Monster Squad, Explorers, Ernest Scared Stupid, Flight of the Navigator, The Neverending Story (the Bastian parts mainly), and Stand by Me. There are very few movies these days that evoke those same feelings (Monster House and The Spiderwick Chronicles being the only ones I can think of at the moment), so it's a real treat to find a movie that brings that great feeling back.

Here's a necro, but anyway it was a really good film glad I gave it a chance, only thing is the little girl deserved to die too, I mean she didn't really lift a finger to stop anything. But really good, thank you fearnet.
