Disapointed .

I've been a fan of Dumont's so far,
but I think he went too far exploring nihilism here .

There's nothing in this movie that even made me want to like it .

Cliches and nothingness, only here it is not a compliment .

Who said you have to like it to understand and appreciate it?

Do you really think Dumont wanted viewers to be entertained by the bleakness, the banality of everyday evil, the unreflectiveness?

Startling beautiful, rustic, wintry farm landscape, seeming nothingness, no desire, no motivations, no ideas, no will, nothing, everything frozen, then he dragged us through Arab deserts, brutal unhuman violence and savage primitive lust, then castrated us, which opened our eyes, then dropped us off at the beginning, in the early spring, rebirth, renewal, a second chance, a gasp is hard, the sound of of remorse, the human soul awakened, an echo of the pain of Mankind, the long winter of the soul ended.

That is entertainment, my friend.

Тhe most interesting thing is that I re-viewed "Flandres" two days ago / I don't think I mentioned "entertainment" on Jan 27 2009 mate, and I still can't see not even a glimpse of the poetry of "L'humanité" in this movie, I just believe he could have gone way beyond "Flandres" in making a war movie - then just to amaze us with scenery.

It's quite possible that I'm just missing something,
cant' wait to see his latest feature,
(sorry for my english)
