A kick-ass performance by Barclay

I just came back from a showing of this film where the director (Paul Goldman) and the female lead (Emily Barclay) introduced the film and participated in a Q&A from the audience. I'ld encourage you to see the film - the script is really engaging and the mock-documentary style used through parts of the film gives it a really interesting edge. But the main reason to see this is the amazing performance by Barclay. She commands the screen, you simply can't take your eyes off her. While you may not empathise with the character of Katrina, Barclay plays her with such strength and confidence and its great to see such a strong female character being written and being played so well. Keep your eye on Barclay and Bell's (writer) career - I think this is only the beginning!!

was that at Luna leedy?

I was there too!

She is brilliant!

especially to meet her and realise how far removed form the character she is

I hope we see more from her!

reply

Me too - good to meet her - when she wins the Oscar (for this or whatever she does later on) we'll be able to say we met her back when

Oops, my wife and I were there, but didn't know that was going on. We saw Little Miss Sunshine instead. That was a great film, but it woulda been ace to see Suburban Mayhem and meet Emily too. And yeh, as you said in the other thread, she is HOT! 8-)

When I saw "In My Father's Den" I knew immediately that Emily Barclay would be a name to watch. I really hope that this talented kiwi actress will follow the path of Anna Paquin (another talented kiwi actress) and make it big in Hollywood as well as doing smaller "independant" movies.

Yep, I hope this is the beginning of a remarkable career. It was a magnetic performance by the young kiwi star. She was equal parts sexy and repellent, sort of like Sarah Palin. Great effort. Can't wait to see more of her.

lol to the comment about Sarah Palin - I didn't quite make the connection myself, a teenage Sarah Palin perhaps?

It's June 2009 and I just discovered this Gem @ Blockbuster. I just loved this film. Emily Barclay was so great , she was sexy and nasty. Just the type of girl who could make a man do anything she wants. Worth a look.

Katrina certainly is bad to the bone, and what a performance it was.Totally believable, I forgot, that this was a girl acting. The first time I'm ever seen Emily Barclay act,and hopefully, not the last time.I seen the movie uncut, on the Superchannel, with a friend, and we couldn't un-glue ourselves, from every edgy moment.
