How did the writer ever agree to this?
Being a big fan of the books I watched this movie yesterday, well watched the beginning and turned it off.
Every single thing is wrong with this adaption, from the casting choice to the style of the film to the change of the storyline. I'm seriously wondering how it's possible that such a gifted writer with such a great talent for creating an interesting and creepy atmosphere could ever agree to this screenplay.
The thing that baffles me most is the casting choice for Darren. Josh would've been the perfect Darren, I always imagined him to be something like that. Not really attractive but not unattractive either, smart and mostly an interesting person. Chris reminded me so much of Kelso from that 70's show that I just couldn't take him seriously.
I'm glad I turned the movie off and I think I'm gonna start reading the books again now. If only to remind me how great they actually were and how this movie does not deserves to even be associated with that story.
