Would this type of game work combined with free-roaming like Spider-Man?

Yeah, the Batman Begins engine for the missions and free-roaming around Gotham City resolving street crimes while striking fear into criminals would be awesome! Would you think? Would've this game worked in a GTA-Style Format? Or if not, what would be your perfect Batman free-roaming game?

Here's what I vision.

Methods of transportation are the Tumbler/Batmobile.

Batman would be able to venture anywhere in Gotham.

He can park his tumbler, get out and run around, and with a remote call it back to him.

He can stop robberies or rape.

He can go INSIDE anywhere in the game that he already went in at the levels. (ex: Wayne Manor, the docks, Falcone's Black Market, on the Wayne train, etc.)

And that's the basics. I wouldn't imagine Batman purposely hurting innocent people, it isn't exactly his style. But yes, it would be awesome. I envision it like a more violent Spider-Man 2 but a less violent GTA kind of game.

I don't think it would work for Batman like it did Spiderman, Batman's meant to be in the shadows according to the movie thats how he was trained so to have him running around Gotham infront of all these people wouldn't fit imo.

I was thinking almost the same thing, commanderblue. That'd be a fantastic game...but the game itself is pretty good; I'm still paying it, haven't beaten it yet.

If I were making a Batman game, it'd be like this--

A fully-rendered, free-roaming Gotham City, with interactive goodies like the ability to demolish certain structures, smash water hydrants, crash through bus-stops, shatter skylights. . .you know, destroy the city while trying to save it. You'd have the option of cruising the streets in the Batmobile, or traversing the rooftops and alleyways using your cape and grapple-gun, which can be used at anytime. A police-scanner would give you information on robberies and thefts (side-missions), but the Bat signal would appear when a storyline mission occurs.

Side-missions would give you points that you could cash in with Lucius Fox at Wayne Enterprises to buy new Bat-gadgets, increase your strength, upgrade your fighting moves, etc. The fighting engine would consist of a counter-and-attack method, as opposed to just punching and kicking someone until they're down. In the event that you should engage a whole on-slaught of opponents, you would always have the option to use your Bat-gadgets (smoke-bombs, flash-bombs, Batarangs) but you would use them at your own discretion, to create your own traps and diversions, not because the game is telling you to in a certain area. Every crime scene you visit would require you to find clues to analyze with the Bat-computer, so that you would have a better chance of catching the criminal before their next crime (something I always liked about the B&R game for PlayStation).

The storyline would be elaborate and expansive (you won't be able to clear it within a week), encompassing every villian that Batman has ever faced, and maybe borrowing a few story-arcs from some of the best comics. They may never make "Knightfall" into a film, but it could totally work in a game.

this to me sounds like a mint idea. i do see the flaws in roaming the streets though, what with batman keeping to the shadows etc. however, what if in the day you could roam as bruce wayne, and at night a Batman. in Begins we never see batman in the day, he only comes out at night, so this idea could work for the game? as to what bruce could do during the days, i have no idea. detective work, undercover, i dont know. go to board meetings haha
