Mark Hamill as Joker Petition. Sign petition Get as many posts possible

He's the only guy who can truly play him. His "Batman The Animated Series" performances are legendary. The actor who played Jack Napier in "Batman Begins" looks like a younger Mark Hamill. If U disagree with me watch a few "Batman TAS" U'll freak out at Hamill's performances. This role is destined for him.

you got my vote. but i don't remember them showing a jack napier character in batman begins.

reply

Jack Napier was the guy who murdered Bruce Wayne's family.

reply

According to the first movie, not the comic books...

reply

In Batman Begins Jack Napier didn't kill his parents though, Joe Chill did. Jack Napier wasn't in Batman Begins.

No, but his calling card was...

incorrect.. jack napier is a name tim burton's people made up for the first movie. batman begins DOES NOT take place in that universe, so all bets are off.

I just meant that the 'joker' playing card at the end was an obvious play at the Joker being a new villain. For those of us who missed it.

Whether he'll actual be the villain in the next film or not... I think Goyer has dropped some hints that he will be. But that, of course, can all change.

Child please go sit down before you seriously injure you head. I know thinking takes a lot out of someone like you so please refrain from doing it as it only magnifies your idiocy.

We'll roll the old chariot along...

reply

Joe Chill was probably a fake name... he was testifying against a crime boss after all.

reply

But if you know anything about the comics, the traditional killer was Joe Chill, not Jack Napier. In the comics now, the killer is unknown as Chill was found to be somewhere else at the time of the murder. Jack Napier isn't even the Jokers name. Nobody knows the Jokers real name, except for the Joker himself. Also, if you remember in Begins, Chill was killed so that rules out the possibility of him being the Joker in the sequel.

Back to Mark Hamill. Sure, the guy had a good voice in the Animated Series, but this isn't the Animated Series. Voice acting is completly different than physical acting. If your only argument for why you want him to be the Joker is because he had a good voice, then at least try to think of something else.

HOW COME A GUY... who doesn't even know the real facts based on the DC Comics dares to choose Mark Hamill as the next Joker???? I mean, just remember Jack Nicholsons performance, and you will see the difference. Hamill would need a very good surgeon -first of all-, and a couple of old school acting lessons, really. I still wonder why George Lucas picked him for Luke's role. Now, someone suggested Sam Rockwell..., and well, he's got a thin face, yah..., just because I can't think of someone else at this moment I wont make a suggestion, but it definitely has to be a new-comer, or an actor we haven't seen that much -just like Cillian Murphy, that was a good option for the Scarecrow, even though his apperances were kind of short-.

Anyway, my major suggestion here is: IF YOU HAVENT READ THE COMICS, DO IT! Because some comments here sound pretty stupid and that's because you're not real fans like us, who know Batman from it's darker beginnings -Dyah know what Year One is about? What about the series Venom? And Gothic, a Romance? I bet you dont even know what I'm talking about you rookies...

Gotta go rebuild a manor.

Year One did indeed kick ass. Did you notice how they used some stuff from that in Begins? The bat summoner thing he had on his boots. I wanted to see Gordon beat the hell out of Flass.

reply

No Joe Chill killed the Wyanes. Only in the 1989 movie did the stray from the comic book.

reply

I second Hamil. This guy can act, teh Joker doesn;t need to be muscular, strong or tall just crazy. Hamil can pullit off, and at a low price I might add. With the money saved they cna build an awsome new Batcave/Wayne Manor.

reply

I agree and he has the perfect voice for the role.

reply

Mark Hammel would be terrible!!!! He is a terrible actor!!! And he is too old! He has a perfect Joker voice.....for the cartoon.

reply

I loved the Batman cartoon but I never knew mark Hamill did the Joker's voice until recently.

With that said, all this Mark Hamill stuff is just wishful thinking from some fans. They will NEVER cast him as the Joker in a new Batman movie. First of all, he's too old. Second, he's not relevant anymore. Look at Batman Begins' cast-all big stars/up and coming stars. If they even have the Joker in the next film, they'll cast someone who has alot of star power. Big studios like WB aren't going to take risks like that just to please the fans. Like people have said, Mark did a wonderful job at voicing Joker, but that was voice work.

reply

no he can not be the joker. stop saying that he can. he looks nothting like the joker. you have no idea how bad it would be if they actually got mark hammil to play the joker. he is 5-6 and has a very round head, while the joker is like 6-0 and has a very skinny head and very slim body. getting mark hammil would be the worst mistake that they could make.

Wow I never thought of him. Sam Rockwell is the man! That's a great suggestion. He would fit perfect. He's the type of guy who's funny and likable, but he could also play a sleazy villian. Those are great traits to have for the Joker. Yes, Sam Rockwell is perfect. I might be biased though as he's one of my favorite actors ever.

reply

Everyone thinks Mark Hamill could be the next joker... He may have the voice but not certaintly the looks, he's way too old. He's just an voice actor now, performing in cartoons and videogames. The Force is weak within him.

I am way too stoned.

reply

A good voice actor and a good screen actor are two separate beasts. I'd sign rather sign a petition to debunk your petition because Hamill would be a terrible "real" joker.

reply

Are certain are people that there will be a sequel to this movie? Especially one with the Joker.

P.S. I agree with Sam Rockwell playing the Joker, not Hamill.

"And after I pull off that miracle, maybe I'll go punch out God." - Sin City

reply

Yep, Bale's said in interviews he's officially signed on for two more, as is the same screenwriter (Goyer is it? the Blade guy) + the very end of Begins is such a cocktease they wouldn't have the balls to not follow it up.

reply

So you're saying that Jack Nicholson, who - by the way - was an excellent Joker, sucked because he didn't have a skinny head and slim body? (Which he doesn't)

It's a bit silly to think an actor isn't fit for a role simply for looks. A good actor can always overcome the physical differences between himself and a character through his demeanor and poise.

But don't worry. Highly unlikely that Hamill will be the Joker.

reply

Jack Nicholson was an excellent Joker... for Tim Burton's Joker. Not Bob Kane, or any other artist of Batman's Joker. And seeings how Batman Begins is "taking 'em out a whole new door" to quote Tim Burton's Joker, we can't be using an old Joker when the comic books have a young, slim-faced Joker, now can we.

Mark Hamill would be interesting but probably not up to it, like
say Kevin Bacon or John Travolta.
Jack Nicholson played the Joker to the audience in an overacted way
- almost at Jack Palance or William Shatner level.
But blame the director and scriptwriter.
Robin Williams has been profoundly unfunny since "Good Morning Vietnam"
onwards.
The Joker has to be twisted, not a standup comedian.
Robin Williams just fancies himself as being twisted by doing
supposedly "darker" things occasionally; Edward Norton does better.

If you want a skinny tall joker who can act, now here is a fantasy:

* Alec Guinness * (wouldn't he have been awesome?)
Vincent Price
Christopher Lee

Jon Stewart - I honestly fancy he could do an excellent turn.
He has a killing sense of irony.

And in half-seriousness, former US Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham,
he always looked the part, and he gets high marks on toxic pollution:

I'd certainly love Hamill to be the Joker.

I agree. physically, Mark Hammill isn't the best person to play the Joker. But if he could change that, I would love to see him do it. I've heard the Joker performances, and it sounds brilliant. The last picture i saw of him, though was of a round wrinkly guy who I can't picture as a live action joker. So at the moment, i can't see it.
Spoiler
BTW, the guy who everyone called young joker got shot and killed by a judge, didn't he?

reply

In the original comics, the murderer of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne had nothing to do with the Joker. Tim Burton just wanted that connectivity to be there for the first movie.

reply

too bad they cant just dubb his voice over. cause his voice is perfect, but still he cant play the part

reply

no way would i want mark hamill as the joker its a joke in itself. HIs voice is good for a cartoon and thats it. apart from that mark hamill is rubbish actor, go re watch star wars and see how awful he is.

reply

so what is this whole Mark Hamill nonsense? I thought the rumor was t6hat sean penn was being looked at to play the joker.

Joker in next Batman...

I think Mark Hamill should get an audition. He is a very good actor. Crispin Glover is the other definite possibility. Joker's not like a 20 year old or anything... in the comics he's nearly always presented as a man in his late 40s - he's not some young criminal, but a wise, weathered maniac.

Let Christopher Nolan (director) decides who makes the cut. He's done a marvelous job on the first film... Cillian Murphy, Christian Bale - the casting was great. Let Hamill and Glover audition, and anyone else. Nolan will make the right call.

reply

Mark Hamill is perfect for the role. He's a great actor who was overlooked after playing the main character in the greatest film ever made. He is a character actor now, and a damn fine one at that.

I personally hope that The begins sequel is created along similar lines to the long halloween the only true year one follow up as even Frank Miller agrees. I have faith in Goyer and Nolan to deliver the true telling of two face, Gordon and the joker in the same vein as Jeph LOeb did. Hamill no chance and sam rockwell is far too over dramatic, he would never be able to do the role justice. the only logical choices are either Lachy Hulme or paul bettany, talk of Heath Ledger is interesting yet very worrying at the same time.

Another thing that in the future could be accomplished in the future, in the right hands of Nolan, Goyer and Singer and no-one else, batman verses superman. Take a look at Hush and the Dark Knight returns to see who the real legend is, superman hasnt got anything on batman. Superman Returns is amazing though...go and see it. Later
