I don't think that it implied anything about demons other than the fact that he was in some kind of personal hell and some mythologies have demons that torment people in hell-like places as an afterlife punishment for things done in life.
The hotel owner could have been a demon or the devil, but in the ending I saw (non-theatrical main, I think), it made it seem as if he was surpised by the supernatural. Personally, I thought that scene was a major inconsistency. I wish it wasn't in there.
Everything could have been in his mind as he was dying as well. I guess it's not explained and therefore left up to the viewer to contemplate.
I'm still not sure if there ever were any ghosts. It seemed to be all to do with his psyche, whether a supernatural hell or one he dreamed up in his head.
