When on DVD?

This thing doesn't seem to be out on DVD either in the UK or here in the US. I wonder why.

In fact, all the Quatermass stuff except "Conclusion" seems to be out of print. What a shame -- some of the most enjoyable sf ever!

I purchased the Quatermass Collection recently which contained the three original BBC series, and it was excellent. I have also received two days ago the Quatermass Conclusion starring John Mills, from America and I am watching this at the moment.

The 2005 version of the Quatermass Experiment is available but is a little bit too expensive for what it is. Ill wait untill the price comes down.

I found a copy of the original Quatermass and the Pit serial with Andre Morell, and I concur, it was excellent! I also found a (probable) bootleg of The Quatermass Experiment with Brian Donlevy on Ebay. I had the John Mills serial from before. What is this Quatermass Collection of which you speak? And why aren't the movies around anymore? What happened to Hammer's stuff anyway?

reply

The Quatermas Collection is the entire three BBC series comprising of The Quatermass Experiment, Quatermass II and Quatermass and the Pit. These are not the films with Brian Donlevy but the original (and better in my opinion) BBC television programmes.

Sadly the first of these (The Quatermass Experiment)is incomplete, but it does go back to the mid 1950's. It is an excellent collection to have and can still be purcahsed via Amazon.co.uk for £23.98. The Hammer films are also still available through Amazon, though the price is quite high on some of them.

Hope the above information is of use to you
