Dreadful

I was left open mouthed that such a talented cast with a classic storyline could end up making this trainwreck of a film. The acting was about the most wooden i've ever seen with Flemying being the worst offender. The actors aren't helped by an awful, leaden script. The storyline jumps all over the place and makes less and less sense as the film goes on. On a positive note though, I haven't laughed so much in ages.

Just a question, if this is such a 'classic' storyline, then how can the script be so awful and leaden - both are the work of Nigel Kneale!?!? You clearly need to clean those dog goggles of yours.

Perhaps because this script was not written by Nigel Kneale but adapted from his series by Nigel Fell. This information was a mere click away

It was live. As an experiment in live drama it worked, although Jason Flemyng would not be my idea of Quatermass.

Its that man again!!

I have to agree that this script was terrible and the actors could do nothing to save it. It was like the writer had no experience of genuine human dialogue.
It was just horrible to watch.

I hadn't watched any Quatermass and knew that the first two Hammer films changed the character to make him American, so I thought I would start with this one thinking it would be authentic. Had to stop watching and get the film. The film's pacing was much better and Quatermass's exit at the end was classic.
