What the hell was Solomon thinking?

Him and Danny are hiding from a convoy of killer rebels, then he completely shows himself and yells out his son's name because he thought he was in one of the trucks? Come on, that was just so illogical. Great film BTW, the story and performances were excellent.

You can knock on Ed Wood but it won't do you no good 'cause all of my heroes are dead in Hollywood

Of course it was illogical - the guy was desperately searching for his son and was prepared to take any risks to find him. We're not talking about a cold-blooded action hero here, we're talking about a father obsessed with finding his son, no matter what, and he's not always going to behave logically.

I have to agree with the OP. He knew what these men were like, what they would do to him. I found it a bit contrived myself.

Your's sincerely, General Joseph Liebgott

His emotions got the better of him, it also happens later when his son turns on them, after he's brainwashed. He wasn't thinking clearly simple as that. Can't really blame him, he was worried sick about his son throughout the whole film.
