If Solomon was photographed by Maddy going through the diamond exchange (which funds conflict), wouldn't it make more sense for him to be viewed negatively as a participant by the people at the conference? Or was he viewed positively because he did it to get his family back and start a new life?

I guess technically Solomon and Maddy could be prosecuted for diamond smuggling but then they would have to prosecute Van de Kamp also.
