God left this place a long time ago.
Talk about amazing writing what a line that must be for an actor to say. Pure class.

You can't prove that giant space arachnids don't exist in a distant galaxy. That means they must be real right? Or is this a failure of logic so monumentally retarded that the average 6 year old can see it?
Are you not entertained?!
Indeed. So it is fine to not believe in it and say 'I don't believe God exists'. Nothing wrong with that. That's what I do. But considering the vast belief in such a being spread across the whole of human history, and the vastness of what human beings have yet to fully understand, it is wrong to say definitively that 'God does not exist'.
When the assertion to prove is a negative claim, the burden takes the form of a negative proof, proof of impossibility, or mere evidence of absence. If this negative assertion is in response to a claim made by another party in a debate, asserting the falsehood of the positive claim shifts the burden of proof from the party making the first claim to the one asserting its falsehood, as the position "I do not believe that X is true" is different from the explicit denial "I believe that X is false"

Wrong. It's precisely BECAUSE there have been 20,000 different religions in human history that they are all fake. If there was really a single, omnipotent deity that inspired belief in itself, all humans would believe the same religion.
Are you not entertained?!
That statement is fraught with assumptions about things you simply cannot understand. Proof that there is not a deity, that was not. Try again kid.
shareDo you absolutely know that or is that your opinion?
I don't love her.. She kicked me in the face!!
Yes, seeing as there's no such thing as God, that line was probably very hard for any sane actor to speak.
Hidyho!
I am sure that line has been used in other films.
Its that man again!!
"Sometimes I wonder... will god ever forgive us for what we´ve done to each other? and then I look around and I realize... God left this place a long time ago..."
That was one of the best phrases I have seen in any movie... this movie captures the reality of Africa, not only talking about the blood diamonds or the rebellion, also about the lost of humanity

Agreed, very good quote, excellent delivery from DiCaprio.
I didn't really like the line actually. Sure it sounded nice stylistically but when you actually think about it, it almost seems to take the responsibility off the parties involved and reflect a fatalistic "well, that's just how it is" attitude. An attitude which is all over this movie by the way. "TIA", right? It's also enormously hypocritical for him, as a diamond smuggler who profited from the very things he lamented with that line, and also as a white guy in Africa who personally fought for not one but TWO racist colonial settler states (Rhodesia and South Africa), both of which played a rather large part in f-cking things up in Africa to begin with and then in preventing Africans from fixing the problems (sending white mercenaries all over the continent to fight against national-liberation movements, waging outright war on independent governments that tried nationalizing their resources so they could be used for the benefit of the people, including in Angola where DiCaprio's character fought for the apartheid army against a progressive government), to then say "God left this place a long time ago". It's not that God left; it's that colonialism came, and this guy personally served it and thus bore a personal share in the responsibility for the problems there, which he then goes and blames on Africa itself.
So, maybe it was a nice movie line, but it's not a way of thinking that should be encouraged in reality.
The people, and the people alone, are the motive force in the making of history.

The script was well written.
