How similar the story line of this movie is to The good, the bad, and the ugly?

They are both treasure hunts set with a background in a war torn area(civil wars, actually)
The three main characters are similar(hounsou's character is the good, that mercenary guy is the bad, and dicaprio's conflicted character is similar to the ugly
The mercenary guy has the army of mercenaries at his back, as did angel eyes
The good gets away with the treasure, the bad dies, and the ugly is left behinf(dicaprio dies, but he is left by the good alive )

Well it's a western and TIA. They didn't kill thousands of people just to get some gold or diamonds.

That actually did occur to me while I was watching it. There are a few similarities, though coincidental of course. I'm surprised someone else noticed.

I never thought about it, but you're totally right! The one added element would be the journalist. Otherwise yes.
