How great was the long take?

When Marion Cotillard is walking through the apartment.

perfect. i can't believe this movie wasn't even in the top 5 for best cinematography of the year. the work here was stunning.

i think (at the oscars) this movie should have won:

best foreign language film
best actress
best makeup
best cinematography

At first it seemed like there was no point to having such a long take about Edith bringing coffee to Marcel, but when I started realizing that there was something wrong, it all made sense. I especially loved how she stepped onto the stage at the end of the take.

Yes, that was superb!

That scene was incredible. I would give it nominations for

Best Picture
Best Actress***
Best Cinematography
Best Editing
Best Score***
Best Hair + Makeup***
Best Art Direction/Set Design
Best Foreign Film

Unfortunately, for me; fellow French film THE DIVING BELL AND THE BUTTERFLY trumps this film in terms of cinematography but that scene alone should have warranted this film a nomination. Magical and sublime.

A GREAT take...
I love Marion in that scene, everything blends perfectly

Agreed, amazing. The only thing I thought was off was when Edith found out the news, you can see the shadow of the camera/cameraman when it quickly moves to her face.

But that doesn't really take away from the beauty of the scene/movie.
