Who was the mystery guy that showed up just prior to final performance?

Does anyone know who that older gentleman who showed up outside Edith's dressing room just before she sings her final "Je ne regrette rien" was?

Several of us were going crazy trying to figure this out.
Thanks in advance.

I thought it was the stern coach that kept correcting her, hammering on pronounciation and performance.

Her daughter´s father...

That guy was definitely her singing teacher. No question.

Raymond Asso, who wrote songs for Piaf and coached her so that she was able to make the move from cabaret singer to music hall performer, with a repertory of her own.

so who was the woman he was sitting with who looked all teary eyed?

reply

That was the piano player and song writer who was defending her from Asso - if you remember, she was the one saying that they needed to take a break, etc when he was constantly chewing on her performance. I believe that Piaf had a romantic relationship with Asso that was not really portrayed in the movie. I am almost 100% sure that is her!

We were wondering who the woman was. The one who approaches her and said her song reminded her of the old days in France.
