In the eye of the beholder

Not many Slovenian movies brought up such various critics and opinions. Some think it's stupid, unoriginal, other just love it. Just for an example- this is one of the most interesting reviews of a well-known critic: http://www.jigsawlounge.co.uk/film/content/view/129/1/

But...numbers speak for themselves-around 25,000 have seen the movie in the cinema, probably 3 times as many at home on the computer...Quotes and jokes from Tu pa tam can be heard on the street every day, music from soundtrack is played on radio regularly.

I went to the movie with no great expectations, 'cos last Slovenian film I've seen (Kajmak & marmelada) was a bit of a disappointment for me...
What can I say...I liked it! Me and my friends were laughing through whole movie. We went to see a comedy and we've got just what we paid for! Funny dialogs, interesting and fresh directing, natural and good-looking actors...What more can you ask for on a dull Saturday night???
My favorite part is the beginning - quick shots, black and white pictures, original introduction of the characters...Okorn really scores with it!!!

What are,by your opinion, the highest and lowest points???

the worst movie ever... totally predictable... no story... cheap photograpy... was there anything funny in this movie?... so many people went to see this movie becouse of promotion and other media support...

reply

I think that this movie costed around $20.000. That's why it looks so cheap :)

reply

It costed 20.000 SIT actually. thats around 83 euros, or 100 USD. The cheapest movie I ever seen. It look preety damn good, for that money...

reply

Well, that's the point. The director and actors were just a bunch of friends who managed to create a movie for 0 money. And no, the movie is not a masterpiece of any kind; it's exactly what it tends to be - a cheap, amateurish, fun and actually really well done movie that just happened to become a cult here in Slovenia.

Kudos to Okorn, he's a really big inspiration for young filmmakers.

This is like the worst movie I ever saw. And I don't know how can this humor be funny to anyone who is above 14?

Don't get me wrong, Im Serbian, we have similar mentality and stuff, but this is rly the stupidest movie I ever saw. So predictable with very poor story, I could write scenario like that for like 15 minutes..

I watched this movie cuz someone said that its similar to Munje (Serbian film). And yeah, I just watched Tu pa tam and I cant believe what I just saw and how can anybody call that as a movie :/

Well, ... that's just your opinion, man.
