Hidden messages

I loved that everywhere in the movie, you could find some things put there to make the movie more real...the nicest thing was to me the scene where the mayor explained to the kids that USA is devided into states, but he was actualy showing Canada..thus the director accentuating the mayor's lack of knowledge...yeah,,,during that the teacher was flirting with the soldier...brilliant!
