Third World + Political Handicap
I hate people voting for political reason, not for the film itself.
even it's a emotional true story from a third world with war theme, this film DOSE NOT deserve this high rating.
Totally overrated.
Romania is a not a third world country...Iraq or Afganistan are third world countries, can you find then on the map?
And it is not a war themed movie. It's a movie about waiting for someone to save you and a love story.
And btw your english SUX. Ignorant!!!

Besides the fact the the term "Third World" is arogant and outdated, Romania has never been included in this category. See the link above.
About the movie, i think you're getting in wrong.

Yes, it's true. But it's more about disapointment, rather than sanding up. During WW2 the population of Romania expected the americans to come to their protection against the russians. However, because Romania was an ally to the Germans (this was so that the russians would not invade), the americans bombed some strategic oil fields in Romania. In the end, the russians invaded the country and installed communism, which held the country 50 years back. So, you can see the disappointment. In the movie the villagers are quite pro american, although they are presented as naives.

Now you're just pathetic. Oh, you defender of love, in the true form hollywood shows it.
Of course, it has nothing to do with love. She's a teenager, and she's as stupid as the fat dog from "two stupid dogs". Where did you see a love story in this movie? There are just confused fellings teenagers have, also influenced by the american culture. This movie was nothing about love. At least not in the hollywood, universal, the only thing that matters in life crap way.

American gymnasts are the main competitors for romanian gymnasts. So, according to your logic, your american girls spread their legs pretty well too. Don't know about you, but for me when it comes to women, their nationality is the least of what interests me.
Overall, this movie is good. That's what matters. Apperently you are the one who didn't like it for political reasons, because you are probably sick of everybody blaming the americans for everything. I don't blame you about the sick part, but still this is a good movie.

To me it's developed nations like US, JAP, western EU block and rest third world, except maybe big, but relatively poor countries like Russia, China, India, Brazil.

Here at IMDB, non Hollywood small budget movie with hint of some kind of IDEA(political, humane, minority, religious, etc) very often do!!!

Have you ever been to Romania? If it weren't for your lack of interest (or education) Romanians who travel abroad would be spared the humiliation of being explained how to use cutlery or how to switch the lights on and off. I have absolutely no intention to debate the definition of the term 'developing country'.
If Wiki contradicts itself on similar words, it's their problem.
I've been responding the term 'third world country' posts only BC I used it!!!
Romania is NOT a rich, developed or OECD nation, thus making it a 'THIRD WORLD COUNTRY" according to the Wiki definition.
Moreover I used it to mean more of 'non Hollywood film', not to degrade or insult a whole country.
The girls in the film already did that plenty!!!
Before YELLING that out loud, you should come to Romania. I do not refer to the countryside, which, indeed is not as developed as other countrysides in foreign countries are, but the big cities (ex. Bucharest, Timisoara, Cluj, Iasi, etc) which ARE almost as developed as any other foreign big city.
Romania is not a third world country believe you me, and most of all by you terms in a few years usa is going to be a third world country. OK did you know that economists predict that in maximum 10 to 15 years China's economy will overcome Usa's economy?! Also because of the continuous rise of natural resources like natural gas and oil, american economy is going down and Russia's economy is going up, also because of that and not only that THE EU economy got ahead of the American economy, so shall we think that in a few years you will be living in a third world country? Man you are as dumb as *beep* in fact most of the american's are, you only now where iraq is cause you have seen it on the news, let me tell you another reason why you should have known before the gilf wars happen...they are one of the oldest cultures on earth more than 5000 years, very developed in their times also, iraq is one of the biggest countries in the middle east and your american leaders gave billions of your dollar to sadam regime when he was in power. By the way don't brag so much about your english cause it is your native language, and it is the minimum you should know.

Let me give a news about Romania and its third world country people coz they might be poor but doesn’t mean they're stupid too...You know why? Because they prefer to spend they last coin buying a piece of bread or some milk for their children rather on a ticket for propagandist brain washing Hollywood movie...In fact most of the Romanian cinema halls have closed down lately...And you know what? if people from all of the world(USA especially) did the same we would not be forced to watch and digest again and again the same crap nonsense big budget Hollywood movies...
On the other side, you're are definitely entitled to express your personal negativ view about the movie...It's ok with me.
