Horrible

I just came back from the theater and I have to say that watching this movie was a very painful experience , like the title say , this movie is horrible!

My girlfriend is a student at the art university, the film directing section, so she often goes to see alternative indy films and she asked me to go with her to the independent film festival and we chose this movie because of the good ratings here on IMDb. What a mistake!!!

Okay, I'm going to be objective as much as I can , now. The director did a bad job here. A lot of scenes are cut in a very crude way. But , compared to the cameraman's work, he was great!

I don't know how heavy was the camera or how weak and amateurish the cameraman was but this is probably the worst problem of the movie. There isn't a single scene , not a single shot, were the camera doesn't shake. They had a chance to shoot some really good photography but they ruined it by shaking the camera. The faster the camera moves ,while following the actors, the less you can see. He couldn't even zoom right , a lot of shots were blurry because of that.

The actors were okay, at least the leading ones. But there were scenes were you could see the actors watching the camera and ,probably, reading cue cards or taking the directors orders behind the camera.

The story was nothing special, to say at least. The plot was very simple and ridicules in my opinion. Too many stereotypes and too many clichés. Even if it's ,by some chance, based on true story ,it still sucks.

Do I have to say that this movie is unbelievably boring? No, I don't.

Don't be fooled by the ratings and good reviews . The wast majority of people who voted and wrote good reviews are from Romania . It is ,therefore, clear that the majority of Romanians ,who voted, gave this movie such good rating just because it's a Romanian movie and not because of the movie itself.

I don't think anybody could honestly say that this movie is good.

Don't waste you're time , see something else. Anything else!

Pretty shaky argumentation there.

True, the camera shakes, and if that kind of thing bothers you, it can really be a pain. I noticed the shaking, but didn't care after a while.

The scenes are cut in a crude way because the director had the misfortune of dying during post-production.

Actors watching the camera, looking for direction, cue cards? I'll look out for that, didn't see it the first time around. I don't believe they were, at least not the Romanian ones - these actors are all quite experienced in film, otherwise they wouldn't have ended up playing in it.

The story was nothing special? Well I'll be. Ridiculous plot? What's so ridiculous about it? What are the stereotypes? What's so wrong about stereotypes? Do all film characters have to be original? Is that a requirement?

I'll tell you something that is ridiculous. Yes, many people from Romania rated this movie. Yes, that's probably it, it must be held in high regard because of that. Come to think of it, most judges in Cannes are all Romanian, that's why it got the award there. And the FIPRESCI too. Those darn Romanians, they are everywhere, infiltrating the movie industry like a plague. And that's all I have to say about that.

You don't think anybody could honestly say this movie is good? What is this, an exercise in rhetoric? Well you know what, I just watched the damn movie and I think it's good. So think again.

You're not offering an argumented opinion, you're trying to convince people of your unargumented beliefs. It doesn't have to be that way.

Enough said

Nope, Romanian people didn't like this either!!!!
The movie is derogatory towards the romanian people. Forget about the bad filming, this is just very very NOT based on real events.

of course, dinamo19 did a survey and found out no romanians liked this movie. or perhaps he read their minds...

fraiere, filmul insulta prostii, iar daca te-ai simtit si tu insultat, imi pare rau pentru tine

No dude, he just missed the whole idea of the movie. But nevermind, it's clear that people like him will never understand subtleties. M'am saturat de oamenii astia care nu fac decat sa dea din mot si sa se considere porumbei inaripati.

Well, it must be art, since so many of you don't really understand it.
It is a damn GOOD movie and it has a lot of substance (but you have to know a little bit of history to see that).
I guess it's not for everyone...

I found this film very entertaining and full of humor. The camera thing didn't bother me at all, i actually enjoyed, as it gave me a feeling of actually experiecing the movie. The movie is indeed full of stereotypes, which i think it's a testemony of its humor. The only guy to break these stereotypes is the main character. I trully think this is intentionally. Sorry you didn;t like this movie, but i think it's the best comedy i watched last year.

this movie is like iq test. you didn't pass

Well, you are a Schwarzenegger-fan.

Where did you get the idea that there is no story? This is one of the best story (Truth or fiction) I've seen in a couple years. I love "American" movies, but have never seen anything Romanian. This blew me away. First off I hate reading subtitles. This movie did not need them because the acting was spot on. I laughed out loud six or eight times throughout. Maybe it was derogatory to Romanians, I don't know how they really live. I hope that they giggle and swoon over American serviceman, might benefit me someday. Anyway, whatever continent you live on you can appreciate the hilarity, the language barrier, and the "Coen"-style backward storyline. nine out of ten
