sharecamera shaking has nothing to do with the fact that it was 'unended'. add that to close angle shots and you get a pretty tiring experience. but overall the movie was great and i can bypass this inconvenience. you guys should give it a try.

shareI think it's the best I've seen in a while, but it could use some of the editing that the director's untimely death prevented from happening.
Still, it's a work that really requires reading between the lines and getting the clues. So, if you're not ready to see a movie as an intellectual puzzle, it's probably not for you. It's not that it doesn't have emotion, or fails to transmit it, but it's one of those movies where 20% of the message is up front, and the rest has to be decoded from the dialogue coupled with the viewer's requisite knowledge of history, ethics, psychology, culture, stereotypes, etc.
Mister *beep* You can't admit the fact that the movie is bad without giving at least one(1) argument. This movie is pretty good and the fact that the camera shakes isn't an unwanted thing. No No No!!! This thing was wanted by Mr. Nemescu, to refract the romanian system and life exactly: Very UNSETTLED. You got to have more that 1 neuron to completely understand the production.

aaaaaaaaaaa camera-shaking is the best way to film this movie... it seems sooooo real. i really enjoyed it. i think, it means very much for us, people from romania. but for everybody. and i agree, this movie has something more... you must think and not just watch and laugh! so, get concentrated, people! life is not just romance and comedy, because it is damned ironic and selfish... and it's hard too... see yourself... mr. nemescu is already dead... at he was 27 years old.
shareyell, that shakin' is indeed intended. but because of other reasons, just as i believe so, differing from refracting the romanian system. it is a tehnique ment to emmerge the viewer into the action. that is why the image is not steady (you don't move your head in a perfectly linear trajectory). to sustain that, see the parts where the camera moves also sideways, just like your head following a discussion between 2 people in front of you.

shareIt's becoming pretty clear that romanians are biased when it comes to this movie. It's either because we want it to be better than it is or we just get it a whole lot better because we can relate to it. Either way i really enjoyed it and i whole heartily think it's a solid 8/10

And the camera shaking is intended, it's supposed to make the movie more realistic. The same technique is used in Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Maybe not enough water in your whisky. The movie is too inteligent for american understanding or knowledge...Asante is very good in proofing the american imbecils
sharejust finished reading all of the comments on all topics. i saw the movie at home, bought the DVD, which i invite you all to do seeing that it's a lengthy film which requires a certain viewer comfort(cigarettes and so on). the one thing that strikes me as odd is how nobody talks about the incredibly emotional, intimate scenes of the crooked-fragile lovestory(stories). nemescu has quirks about "humans who electrocute" when they cannot express otherwise, the magical scene where the hydrants of a back alley blow water high in the air, or the way she fumbles the lyrics of "california dreaming". was there nobody watching?

shareI think this is one of the best movies I've seen in the last years. I mainly don't like American movies with lots of special effects like Spiderman or others like it i enjoyed intellectual movies like "Man from the moon" and "Truman show"(with Jim Carrey)witch is fun but also has big, deep and intelligent story plot. But as much i liked the " California Dreamin' (Nesfarsit)(Unended)" you can't compare it with no American movie, but you can compare it with Europeans movie. I think this movie could be compared at value with the "Black cat , withe cat" tow this movie is more serious than Emir Kusturica's movie...I don't say the movie is the best movie ever but is a very good movie, and i recommend seeing it because you might be pleasant surprised. And about the camera shaking .....see "Saving Private Ryan" or "Black Black Hawk" witch i didn't quite enjoyed them for the so called American heroism, because generally Hollywood movies witch present military combat or so .."the americans are the best and 2 or 3 amerians fight an army of enemies (terorists, or arabiens, or others)" and yet in real life they lost lots of combats see Vietnam or the golf or see the war with Bin Laden witch "will die" of old age.
But returning to the movie just watch it and then if you didn't understood it watch it again until you do ...than make the comments..:P

I think the camera shaking arguement is just beeping stupid. Check out the Saving Private Ryan Omaha Beach assault scene. The camera moves like crazy throughout the scene, and it's a mind-dazzling achievement. The scene is spot-on with the atmosphere.
If you're going to support your idea, do it wisely. I mean hey, some of us think this movie is top notch, some don't...we at least can have a civilized, mature, educated discussion. But say something like: "well, the dialog wasn't that great because..." or something like that. Or simply don't post and learn from others.
