Herbert Nenninger?
In the episode where they have the hutch-full of baby rabbits, why is one of them named Herbert Nenninger? Is this an in-joke of the producers or something? Just curious.

shareIs it possible the rabbit was named Herbert Denninger? That was a character in Stephen King's The Stand.
shareNope, it's Nenninger--I watch with the captions on. I was wondering about the reference too--if it was someone on the show or just a made up funny name because all the other bunnies names reflected their appearances (Brownie, Spotty, etc...)
shareI wondered about Herbert Nenninger too! It must mean something to someone?
There's a story about Spotty Bunny by HA Rey in the Curious George and Friends treasury. I think all the other bunnies in that have names like Brownie, etc.
my kids got 2 little windup bunnies last year for easter and promptly named them both herbert nenninger. we keep them in the car and heaven forbid one is missing... it's too hard not to laugh when a 3 and 4 yr old are yelling 'where is herbert nenninger!?!?'
shareWell, I'm not certain either, but
Ma Rabbit and Bill's Bunnies: Fuzzy, Whitey, Brownie, Spotty, Black Ears, Cotton Tail, and Herbert Nenninger, appear in various episodes, including....
"Curious George: Curious George on Time/Curious George's Bunny Hunt" (#1.5) (2006)
"Curious George: The Clean, Perfect Yellow Hat/Bee Is for Bear" (#1.20) (2006)
"Curious George" Unbalanced/Curious George vs. Winter" (#1.30) (2007)
"Curious George: Ice Station Monkey/The Perfect Carrot (2008)" (#3.1) (2008)
But this episode features merely five of Bill's Bunnies, without explanation.
"Curious George: For the Birds/Curious George-Asaurus" (#3.3) (2008)
And now, it's back to seven, which is good to know that they're all safe and sound once again.

Bill's rabbit is named Herbert Nenninger for comical effect. The rest of Bill's bunnies have names that are simple (Fuzzy, Whitey, Brownie, Spotty, Black Ears, Cotton Tail) or would be expected for a pet rabbit. There isn't necessarily any meaning behind it, unless it does happen to be a play on King's Menninger.
shareMargaretBailey is right, Herbert Nenninger was the name of a farmer who owned land in the town. This is all mentioned in the Curious George: Boo fest Halloween movie.
