this is the worst piece of crap cartoon!

I'm sick the bipolar disorder that cartoons are these days - they are either boring and crappy like Curious George and Caillou where the entire plot revolves around something dumb - like learning to peel a banana and or like methamphetiminish Sponge Bob - can we bring back the days of good cartoons like the Smurfs? Remember when cartoons had soul and weren't this crap I have force myself to sit through with my son. UGh!!!!!!! Wake up cartoon world and start cranking out something that has real substance - not some formulaic concoction of pure crap!!!!!!!!

reply

Your a loser!!!! I love george .... If you don't like the show then WHY ARE YOU HERE!!!!????!?!?

reply

I'm here to express how bad cartoons are - did you not read my post moron?

reply

Since when is George trying to peel a banana peel? A good one for instance is "Robot Monkey Hullabulloo." George msitakes that Hundley likes robots and dresses up as one, only to get taken to a robot convention! Good enough for you?

reply

Curious George cartoon = crap

other crappy cartoons

Little Bear
Caillou (this has got to be worst ever -even worse than Curious George!!!)
Franklin
Cyberspace
Piggly Wiggly?
Sponge Bob

Good cartoon
Arthur

reply

Your children must love watching cartoons with you lol. Maybe you think they are crap because you arent the age the cartoons are geared towards. I am sure our parents thought the Smurfs were crap.

reply

Curious George with its over-the-top theme song sucks and so does the cartoon which is absolutely about nothing. Please stop defending this crapola cartoon.

reply

Rosemarywater: Why don't you just go to the Smurf message board, post how much Smurfs make you feel happy and warm and young, and stop trying to convince everyone on this board that CG (and everything else that you don't happen to like) is crapola and sucks??? You might find some like-minded individuals there, and then ya'll can form your own writing group and create a new,
Smurf-esque, enjoyable-to-all-people-in-all-age-groups cartoon that, when it debuts, will make us forget all about our curious little monkey. Wouldn't that be nice?

You got a lot of negative energy, dear. May I suggest a stressball? Punching bag? Run around the block? Prune juice???

Just tryin' to help...

reply

it has nothing to do with negative energy and it's sad that people like you get suckered into watching empty souless cartoons like this that use gimmicks instead of something that really comes from great imagination.

reply

wow - chill, Rosemary.
Parents are getting exactly what they say the want - a safe babysitter that has an educational content.
While I really enjoyed Roadrunner 'toons when I was a kid, there wasn't much to learn except Acme products usually sucked and coyotes are persistent if a bit stupid carnivores. While I never believed you would survive getting slammed on the head by an anvil or falling off a cliff, parents (and lawyers) are insisting on safer pablum these days.
I know adults who do enjoy Curious George, but it is geared for the 2 to 5 crowd. I think CG is a lot more entertaining than Dora or your precious (tired) Arthur.
And everybody knows monkeys are way cooler than rabbits.

i LOVED the smurfs when i was a kid, but to be honest it wasn't that great. the characters were one-dimensional; their names even indicated it. the stories were pretty simple, repetitive, and boring. the writing was silly. but i did like handy smurf a lot. i like CG a lot too. he's so cute. i understand the show is geared for toddlers and not adults, so i accept the simplicity. as a 31 year old, i understand balance, tides, winter, etc., but i find it fun to watch a cute little monkey learn these things. if i had kids i think it'd be neat to watch CG with them and talk about those things and do simple experiments. CG is a million times more educational than the smurfs.

the OP sounds like some old curmudgeon: "way back when i was young everything was great...these kids today with their rock and roll music...and stay off my lawn!"

I like this show. It's the best cartoon I've seen. There's a lot of people characters in it also, in addition to the animals. I like 'the Man with the Yellow Hat' and Bill, the teenager who lives in the country. The doorman in the city apartment is a funny guy too, lol. And can't forget that chef! ;) The animals are all pretty, did anyone ever notice that? I mean no one on Curious George is grotesque to look at, it's just a very nice cartoon with an old-fashioned flavor to it. Even the pigeon looks good, I mean how many times have you seen a nice looking pigeon in real life? LOL. I also noticed that everyone is very nice and friendly on this cartoon, both the children and the grown-ups. Everyone is always well-mannered and polite. Yes, this is a great show! :)

To each their own.
I enjoy watching most cartoons. I like to listen to the voices. Curious George has most of my favorite voice actors/actresses-

Jim Cummings- (Darkwing Duck, Don Karnage from TaleSpin, Pete Sr. from Goof Troop, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Ray from The Princess and The Frog, and a ton of other characters) preforms Chef Pisghetti, Jumpy Squirrel, Hundley, Mr. Zoobel, Mister Quint, and various other voices.

Jeff Bennett- (Dr. Jacques von Hamsterviel in Lilo & Stitch: The Series) preforms The Man in the Yellow Hat, Mr. Renkin

Grey DeLisle- (Azula in Avatar: The Last Airbender and a ton of other characters) preforms Betsy and various others.

Rob Paulsen- (Has preformed over 250 characters and has been in a ton of commercials) does Compass, Charkie, Doorman 1st Season, Mr. Glass, and various other characters.

Kevin Michael Richardson- (Gantu from Lilo and Stitch, Plato from The Adventures from the Book of Virtues, tons of others) does various characters

I also enjoy the animation and stories.

reply

Yes, I agree with Margaret because the animation and stories cannot be beat when it comes to modern cartoons.

"Curious George" is certainly one of the most pleasant and tolerable of the lot, and the voices seem quite professionally delivered...or at least until Season Four, when they introduce that loud, obnoxious and screechy granddaughter of the Renkins' and repeat those episodes relentlessly.

Well, the series jumps the shark when they ruin it with non-talent, but, before that, "Curious George's" first three seasons become much more enjoyable and entertaining than most other animated series' which they try to pass off as cartooning today.

I like Allie. I have worked with a bunch of kids through my time as a Girl Scout volunteer, childcare worker, babysitter, and substitute teacher and I have met a lot of kids that act and sound like her.

reply

I like Allie too, she makes me laugh because I think its how George would behave if he were a person and not a monkey. My 3 y/o loves the show in general, but seems to find Bill annoying-- like I do.
I do think this show is a lot better than a lot of shows available to kids. My daughter has no idea who Dora is except for the occasional exposure at friends' houses. So the OP needs to realize that while she finds this annoying, the majority of parents find the shows she likes annoying and love George.

reply

I think the OP needs to lay off the cartoons, unless its for adults (ie family guy) He/she seems to be missing the mark that CG is a TODDLER show. Toddler meaning kids like my son.

I know it's just a show, but anyone else get annoyed with that dog, Sharkey? Why do these kids constantly walk him, when obviously they cannot control him?

And the chef in one episode explains how he won't put anything out until Gnocci "approves" it. Sorry, but if you need a cat to approve your food, you most likely aren't the best chef. (Oh, and he almost shut the place down because she started roaming around the neighborhood, because he took away all of the things in the ally that she liked.)

Other than those two things, I find this show adorable.

Has anyone noticed that George is really a chimpanzee not a monkey? If the constant monkey (chimp) noises don't drive you crazy, your kids constantly mimicking monkey (chimp) noises will! Profoundly politically incorrect, a university staffer with some serious psychological problem that causes him to dress from head to toe in bright yellow every day. He can't tell the difference between a monkey and a chimpanzee, he is also the worlds most irresponsible pet owner. George wrecks almost everything in sight and turns the entire world upside down and no one seems to mind, cute right. Monkeys and (Chimpanzees) are dangerous wild animals that should never live with people. This story is the outgrowth of the time when people thought it was cute to have a pet monkey, and confuse monkeys with apes. Specimens were gathered in the wild as infants by shooting the adults and abducting the young. This story has seriously outlived its time. Ironic this cartoon has been so successful with the politically correct crowd.
