... even intend Timmy to watch Jake's tape?

Am I wrong in thinking they just set Jake up, never intending Timmy to help him out, and didn't care if he died ... just so they could watch someone go through the full cycle to the end of Day 7 ?

As the week went past, you could see Timmy getting more and more scared off the idea of trying it for himself. Bt when Jake finally went to his house in a panic, Vanessa was inside just calmly smiling while Jake pounded on the door. Looked to me like she'd deliberately talked Timmy out of watching the thing. (Not that that would have been hard, of course.)

Or am I wrong ?

Nope, at least I dont think so. that is the impression I got from the film too.

I think they wanted to see someone do a full cycle as you said.

What I don't understand is who was with Emily when Jake called her on the phone? Was that Vanessa? Was she telling Emily about the tape's curse and did she convince Emily to go see him and watch the tape, too? Of course, she didn't watch it.

I never thought of that. I just assumed it was one of Emily's friends.
